[PSN Review] Toki Tori

Toki Tori for PSN is Based on the critically acclaimed Game Boy Color game, this update improves the original on every front. Sporting a new look, updated content and a completely overhauled control scheme, the game offers players of all ages a classic gaming experience while making the most out of the Wii console. The gameplay in Toki Tori is a blend of two genres. While it looks like a platform game, it’s a puzzle game by heart. Players will have to look and plan ahead carefully while using a variety of items, such as the Telewarp, Freeze-o-Matic and InstantRock™ to name but a few. Toki Tori has been improved over the other available versions (Wii and Steam, to name a few), and some wrinkles have been ironed for it’s HD showcase. The game is now fully playable with the PS Move controller (pointer controls really help since you just point at the exact spot were you want to move, and click. Same goes for selecting tools and using them in the level), and full 3D display support is available, making this a very surreal experience. You will easily find the solution for the first set of levels, since they allow you to get used to the controls and mechanics for the game… but once you start to play in the later levels you’ll soon realize you’re not as smart as you think you are. I recommend that you start playing the game on Easy mode since it features a different set of levels from the main game, and it will slowly introduce you to all enemies, elements and items you can use. In case you run into a level you cannot complete, you have the option of using a Wildcard to skip the level in order to try your best at beating the one right after it. You only get one Wildcard and, in order to use it in another level, you must first complete the level you initially skipped. It’s a great idea that allows you to retry past levels with a new focus, but without allowing you to right out skip until the last level. In case you make a mistake and use an item in the wrong spot, or fall down a hole with no way of teleporting out, the game allows you to use a rewind feature that takes you as far back as you want (from a couple of seconds to aaaaaall the way to the start of the level), making it easier to try several solutions without having to restart the whole level if you accidentally placed a cube half a step in the wrong place. Should you run into an enemy, the game will present to you with the option of restarting the level, or of rewinding time to a bit before you were sent the way of the Dodo. Now, if you’re just finding the solutions to all levels with ease, and you think you are the master after completing the last level, I’ve got news for you: Toki Tori does not only have 48 levels, split into 4 themed worlds… it also features HARD levels for each of the 4 themes AND even harder bonus levels if you’re feeling extremely confident. These additional levels will stump you more than once, but the Toki Tori is a very fun puzzle game that brings back an old classic for a whole new generation to enjoy. The puzzle variety, the huge amount of content, and the responsive controls make this a great purchase. You’ll enjoy the game for many, many hours, always playing just to complete “one more level”. Review Pros Cons Great update to the interface and graphics. Huge amount of content thanks to extra levels you can unlock Some slowdown in a couple of levels Rating 90% Cost – £6.29/€7.99 (Only available in Europe at the time) Disclaimer Total amount of time played: 8 hours. Game was completed, and all trophies were obtained before writing this review. This review is based on a PS3 copy of Toki Tori provided by Two Tribes

First MW3 Map Pack to contain five maps

If you’re eagerly awaiting the first swathe of downloadable content for Modern Warfare 3, then rejoice – rumour has it that you’re looking at no less than five maps, with one of them a rehashed version of a map from MW2. Everyone enjoys getting to know maps like the back of their hand, but it’s important to see a new environment from time to time, to keep things fresh – and to keep the really talented players on their toes at all times. There’s nothing like getting complacent, right? No prices are confirmed as yet, but given the prices of the last map packs it’s not going to be anything that breaks the bank – and it’s not like you’re playing much outside MW3 anyway, right? Even if it is a little bit of partypoker while your match loads, five maps is a lot more than some people were expecting – around 66% more, if our math is correct. As for future map packs, our guess is four or five, at the least – given that MW3 is the latest iteration in a long-running series that will stand for some time (unless they get cracking on Black Ops 2 – who could blame them). It’s going to be interesting to see what maps they’ll bring back out of the past, as going back even further (potentially all the way back to some of the earlier games, permitting for realism – i.e. not setting a MW3 map in a location only around in 1937) would be great. So what are your thoughts? Do you think all five maps should have been new? Are you okay with the price? We want to hear your thoughts, and you can have ours for free – “new maps! SCORE! JOY!” and other such verbose, enthusiastic statements.

[Accessory Review] Trigger Grip for Vita

The Vita is an amazing piece of hardware designed for people with small hands. The small design is its biggest drawback in my opinion, and the small buttons and tiny frame make for some very uncomfortable gaming sessions. The L and R buttons are so close to where your thumbs are that you’re forced to stick your index fingers straight up and bend them down in a claw like effect. This grows old after about 30 minutes of gaming. Introducing the must own accessory for the PS Vita. This Trigger Grip can be picked up for only $17.99 and will extend your gaming session by hours on end. The feel is extremely comfortable and is immediately clear that this is how the Vita should feel. No more clawing at the L and R buttons, as the case comes with fitted triggers that sit slightly more behind the Vita like a PS3 controller. My biggest gripe with the Vita, besides the tiny size of everything, was the fact that the Land R buttons need to be completely depressed to register. This is immediately fixed with the PDP Triggers. The base of the case is shaped like the bottom of the ever-so-familiar Dual Shock and feels right at home in my manly hands. I cant stress enough how much better the feel is with this small investment. The rear of the case doesn’t touch any of the back Touch controls and the front sits far away from the screen. The design is something you would expect from Sony. I thought long and hard about any drawbacks and the only one that comes to mind is if you use a purse for your Vita, it may not fit with the Triggers. Who uses a purse anyways? So, travel case aside, this is simply a must own. Review Pros Cons Amazing Feel More practical Trigger locations Prevents the infamous fingers/falling asleep Wont fit in a standard Purse/Travel case Rating 98%

[Review] 4GamersElite Deluxe Travel Case for the Playstation Vita

Last week on twitter, 4GamersElite had a little giveaway for a few of their fantastic products, specifically travel cases for the newly launched Playstation Vita. Well I couldn’t resist entering and as you see from the picture above, I won. I decided that I was going to treat this as a review product shortly after winning mostly because I was mesmerized by the case I chose after winning. The first thing you notice about this particular case is that it is large…very large. Especially compared to my old Vita case. This is actually what made me choose this case in particular. I’m a gadget on the go kind of guy and we all know battery life just isn’t what we want it to be these days so we have to carry several charging cables with us. The invention of proprietary wires (this man should probably be beaten with pillow cases of soap) forces us to carry multiple wires. I have a large backpack with many pockets but in between my iPad, Vita, PSP, mobile phone, spare USB cable, headphones and bluetooth charger, its just impossible to not get these tangled up. This particular case allows me to neatly store the cords in the case with the Vita and games thus giving me one less headache to deal with later. The actual pocket for the vita is lined and padded itself along with the hole case. It feels sturdy yet soft, and seems to have a spot for everything. The external fabric feels like a rubber coated neoprene so it feels very water resistant. I gotta say that this is probably the best case I’ve ever owned for a portable gaming machine personally. Here is the bad news. It’s not currently available in North America. Right now this bad boy is only available to our European friends and soon Asia. They do have plans to penetrate the American market eventually from what I gather as well. /fingers crossed/ Absolutely a great purchase for anyone and for me, winning it makes it all that much sweeter. Be sure to check out all of their fantastic product here *PRODUCTS NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE TO NORTH AMERICA*
