Stephen Strasburg’s Injury Horrible for Baseball

Stephen Strasburg made people care about baseball again. Even casual fans were circling their calendars and setting their DVRs to a get a glimpse of the rookie phenom. No other player in baseball garnered comparable attention. But now it’s all over. On Friday, the Washington Nationals announced that Strasburg has a torn elbow ligament in his pitching arm and will most likely require Tommy John surgery. While Strasburg should eventually recover, baseball will feel the pain. The sport needed Strasburg. The 22-year-old more than lived up to the hype of being the number one overall pick of the 2009 MLB Draft. In 12 starts, Strasburg had a 2.91 ERA to go along with 92 strikeouts in only 68 innings. Going forward, the Nationals need to be smart. Since Tommy John surgery has a 12-to-18 month recovery process, Strasburg shouldn’t only miss the rest of this season, he should be held out of next season as well. It would be unwise for Strasburg to be on the mound prior to the 2012 season. In the meantime, people will revert to not caring about baseball anymore. Drake And Nicki Minaj Married or Publicity Stunt?

Hip hop star and actor Drake and rapper Nicki Minaj have announced on Twitter that they are married. Drake tweeted ,”Please refer to @nickiminaj as Mrs. Aubrey Drake Graham and dont stare at her too long. She’s finally mine. :) ”  Nicki tweeted , “Yes, its true. Drake and I tied the knot.” However there is some speculation that it is a publicity stunt by the hip hop label-mates. Though Drake declared his love for Nicki in his single, “Miss Me” – the timing is suspicious. Drake has an album out and Nicki’s album is set to be released in the near future. If it’s not a stunt, congrats to the happy couple. Maybe Drake can stop her from wearing outfits like this in public. Nicki Minaj – WENN.com [ MTV ] Post from: EveryJoe

Jamal Crawford Wants to be Traded

Jamal Crawford won the Sixth Man of the Year award last season. Fitting a specific role for the first time in his career, Crawford finally lived up to his potential. But now the 6-foot-5 guard reportedly wants out. According to ESPN.com, Crawford will soon ask for a trade. The issue at hand is Crawford wanting a contract extension from the Atlanta Hawks. He’ll be making $10 million this upcoming season — but he wants more money on top in future years. The 30-year-old supposedly wants an extension that will keep him under contract until he’s 34. While Crawford is a good player, it’s understandable that the Hawks wouldn’t break the bank for him. After signing Joe Johnson this summer for nearly $120 million, it’d be unwise to sign Crawford to big bucks, especially considering that the two players are primarily shooting guards. Last season, Crawford came off the bench in all 79 games and averaged 18 points, three assists and 2.5 rebounds while shooting 44.9% from the floor, 38.2% from beyond the three-point arc and 85.7% at the line. Luna’s body was discovered by her mother and the cause of death has yet to be determined. Luna was staying at her mother’s house because her own home had recently burned down. Luna retired from wrestling in 2007 and worked as a towtruck operator. She had two sons and two granddaughters. [ WWE.com ] Post from: EveryJoe

Tiger Sheds Baggage, Tiger Shines

Tiger Woods wasn’t a very good golfer after his sex scandal up until his divorce was finalized. However, in his first round of golf since his divorce, Tiger Woods looked like the Tiger Woods we all had grown accustomed to watching. At the Barclays, Tiger Woods shot a first round 6-under 65 to sit on the top of the leaderboard. Said Tiger: “It’s exciting to hit the ball flush again; it’s something I’ve been missing all year.” A happy wife at home has also been missing all year. In his case, no wife appears to be better than an unhappy wife. Although, Tiger wouldn’t directly come out and say it. “I can’t really say that’s the case. As far as golf, it was nice to put it together,” remarked Tiger. It’ll be interesting to see if he can hold on for the win and get his golf game back in order. And hey, if he wins this tournament, he doesn’t have to worry about losing half of the paycheck. Tiger Woods better after his divorce? (Image: TSN.ca) Post from: EveryJoe

Donnie Avery Torn ACL – Injury Update

The St. Louis Rams can’t catch a break. They’ve struggled in every aspect of the game in the last few years. In fact, last year they were so bad that they ended up with the number one pick in the draft. This year, too, is starting off on the wrong foot. According to sources close to the Rams, wide receiver Donnie Avery will miss the entire season after suffering a torn ACL in a preseason game on Thursday against the New England Patriots. In the second quarter, Donnie Avery jumped for a pass and grabbed at his knee after landing. He had to be carted off the field and was obviously in pain. Rams head coach Steve Spagnuolo wasn’t optimistic when talking to the press after the exhibition game. Said Spagnuolo: “Donnie probably has a significant knee injury. We will know a little bit more when we get the tests.” Entering his third season, Donnie Avery had 100 catches for 1,263 yards and eight touchdowns in his first two years in the NFL. He was expected to be one of St. Louis’ main weapons on the offensive side of the football field this season … but that won’t happen after the torn ACL. Here’s a Donnie Avery highlight video: Post from: EveryJoe
