Just how bad is the PS3 shortage? According to GameStop’s Chief Operating Officer Paul Raines ,PlayStation 3s have been out of stock a whopping 80% of the time during the company’s February-April quarter. Even though PS3 sales are up 32% year-over-year the supply shortages Sony is facing with the system continue to hinder hardware sales. On the bright side of things GameStop reported a 5.1% sales increase during its first fiscal quarter with new software sales increasing to 13.3% thanks to big game releases of Battlefield: Bad Company 2, God of War III, Final Fantasy XIII and others.
