In case you still haven’t heard, a new James Bond game is in the works for the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC. Scheduled to arrive this holiday, here’s a early sneak peek at James Bond 007: Blood Stone . For a first look I give it a 7.5 out of 10 , I’ve bought the previous James Bond video games and this one might be one of Best. Who knows I could be wrong, we’ll get more details soon to make a better guess if this is a buy or rent . Your thoughts on the trailer?

Activision’s Revenue For 1Q 2010: $1.3 billion

Activision reported their financial results for the first quarter of 2010, ending March 30th. No surprise to anyone the company raked in profits thanks to sales of World of Warcraft and ,of course, Call of Duty: Modern Warefare. The company’s net revenues came in at $1.3 billion, while its non GAAP net revenues finished at $714 million. “Our better-than-expected first quarter performance was driven by strong global consumer demand for Activision’s Call of Duty and Blizzard Entertainment’s World of Warcraft.” CEO Bobby Kotic stated. “Throughout the remainder of the year, we plan to release our strongest video game lineup ever based on some of the industry’s highest quality, profitable franchises,” he said. That “strongest video game lineup ever” includes Guitar Hero 6 and DJ Hero 2 to be released later this year along with yet another Call of Duty game.

Bungie Joins Activision, Bungie Games On PS3 Now?

Straight out of left field comes the news today that Bungie have signed a 10 year publishing deal with Activision, leaving Microsoft to join the multi-format publisher. So surely this means PS3 owners will also get Bungie titles in the future? Pretty exciting news, I may not be the biggest fan of Halo (and this doesn’t mean Halo on PS3) but it’s great to see a developer of this calibre now able to release games for Sony’s machine too. It is a surprise to see Bungie sign with Activision though considering the recent shenanigans with Infinity Ward . Will be interesting to see where Bungie go from here!

Sony Being Sued for Linux Removal

So it looks like the first lawsuit has raised its head about the Linux removal. While I understand peoples heart felt feelings about its removal, I can not comprehend those who would prefer to have Linux and suck money from Sony through lawsuits instead of having them use that same money towards more game development and R&D. I’m sure this suit will go no where, but its still interesting how far people tend to get away from gaming. A class action lawsuit has been filed against Sony Computer Entertainment America for the removal of the ‘Other OS’ feature from the PlayStation 3. In March, Sony released firmware v3.21 that disabled the feature, disallowing users install the Linux operating system. The update was not mandatory; however those who chose not to download it were cut off from a number of other features, one of which included signing in to PlayStation Network. The suit, filed on April 27 by Anthony Ventura of California, seeks to redress Sony for the “intentional disablement of the valuable functionality originally advertised as available” for the Playstation 3. The disabling of Linux support is not only in breach of the sales contract between Sony and its customers, the suit says, but also a deceptive business practice “perpetrated on millions of unsuspecting customers.”

Vince Zampella and Jason West from Infinity Ward ‘Respawn’ with EA

Not too surprising but big none-the-less, The two bosses of Infinity Ward that got Sacked by Activision have created a new company; Respawn Entertainment. Hmm I wonder what they could be referring to with that name? This news only helps to add further intrigue into the overdrawn lawsuit between the two developers and Activision after Zampella and West were accused of trying to sign with EA. Vince Zampella, General Manager of Respawn Entertainment said this in announcing the deal; “Respawn Entertainment marks a fresh start for Jason and me. For the past decade we led a great development team and poured our hearts into creating an epic game franchise. We’re very proud of what we built – and proud that so many millions of fans enjoyed those games. Today we hope to do it all over again — open a new studio, hire a great team, and create brand new games with a new partner, EA.” They also added this little chestnut too; “Now that the team is in control of the games and brands, we can ensure that the fans are treated as well as they deserve.” A non too sly dig at the latest Stimulus Package for MW2? Hopefully this move can breathe some new life into the developers as a lot of people felt they were stagnating at Activision but I can’t help but feel a sense of overcrowding at EA now. When you factor in DICE making the Battlefield games and the online for the new Medal of Honor along with EA LA handling the single-player campaign. That’s a lot of different Modern Warfare studios making games for EA. Presuming of course that Respawn Entertainment’s next game is a Modern Warfare title. Vince Zampella says Activision countersuit is false and outrageous

And the war rages on. Following the countersuit filed by Activision against ex-Infinity Ward heads, Vince Zampella – via his lawyer, Robert Schwartz – have released an official statement to the LA Times, calling it false and outrageous. Statement after jump. Vince’s statement: “The allegations Activision made today are false and outrageous. Just one example is Activision’s allegation that Jason and Vince conspired to spin off Infinity Ward. Activision itself proposed spinning off Infinity Ward when, last year, it sought to renegotiate Jason and Vince’s contract and induce them to forego developing a new game in favor of doing another Modern Warfare sequel. Jason and Vince had hired the Creative Artists Agency to advise them in their negotiations with Activision, and not to breach their contract. The conversations with IW employees, talent agents, and others during these negotiations with Activision were not conducted in disrespect of Activision but to see if Activision’s proposal could work. “Activision’s inaccurate and misguided allegations lose sight of the reality here: None of the false claims of insubordination or breach of duties had any negative affect on Activision — none. Modern Warfare 2 has been the world’s most successful video game. And none of this changes the fact that Jason and Vince would still be at Infinity Ward developing new games except that Activision kicked them out. This is just an Activision tactic to avoid paying Jason and Vince and everyone else at Infinity Ward the millions of dollars they all earned and that Activision owes them. Since being fired by Activision, Jason and Vince have taken steps to regain control over their creative future and plan to have an announcement very soon.” And we all know this won’t be over any time soon.
