Starhawk Beta Is Going Public Tuesday Jan 17th!

The Starhawk beta is going public on the 17th! The public testing will allow the team to work out bugs and server issues as well as allow the public to get on what has otherwise been a closed beta up until now. Who gets in, and when? (North American Starhawk Beta schedule) PlayStation Plus January 17: All PlayStation Plus subscribers and all Private Beta participants (who haven’t erased their original Private Beta files). You can learn more about PS Plus here. Starhawk UC3 Voucher January 31: UNCHARTED 3 Beta key holders. These voucher codes were found inside of North American copies of UNCHARTED 3. FB February 7: Visit GameStop and PlayStation on Facebook and see how you can get early voucher codes. IGN February 14: IGN.com (details to be revealed soon) LOGO-PSN stacked vert pos copy copy February 21: Everyone with a PlayStation Network account…in other words, everyone who wants in, gets Beta FAQ If I was in the Private Beta, am I in the Public Beta? If you were in the Private Beta, you are in the Public Beta for the duration. DO NOT delete the Private Beta file from your PS3 or else you won’t have access. Worse, you will be…unhappy. Is this a demo? This is NOT a demo. You can expect to find bugs and the vast majority of the game features planned for the final game will not be implemented. Of course, many of you will not read this sentence and will expect the Beta to be final quality. We ask that the community help itself and remind players that this is a test. It happens to be a pretty fun test, but it is a test regardless. Keep an open mind and we’ll continue to regularly update the Beta with changes based directly on your feedback. Remember when you were a kid and you wanted to help make games? This is your chance! When does the Public Beta end? When the game is good and ready! Honestly, when we’ve learned all we can and feel we can deliver the best product to you. Basically, sometime after February 21st, BUT it’s our recommendation that you do not delay joining or you might find your window of opportunity passing you by. What’s different from the Private Beta? We’re going to reveal more about the content updates soon enough. Patience, Padawan… Will you test out the solo campaign? Nope! The Public Beta is solely based around the multiplayer experience. While we have a robust solo story campaign in the final game, we can get our testing done elsewhere for that. How do you send us feedback? It’s time for our first official game night with Battlelfield 3! Maybe we could join a empty game so we are all together and wait for other to show up. Any game type you want to play let me know. Jay, your friendly neighborhood Community Manager, here. As you may have noticed, I have been inactive for a few weeks due to a bad case of sciatica and not having the money for insurance, or a way of getting it taken care of (just self-administered physical therapy). Although it is still going to affect me for little while longer, it is easing up a bit finally. With that said, I would like to thank Tosh for doing these in my absence and congratulate the winners. As for this week’s trivia: This game was originally meant to be a PS2 sequel to the Resident Evil franchise, but during the prototype phase, it was deemed too much of a departure from the RE formula (and the survival horror genre in general) but was renamed and kept in production anyway. PS3Blog.net Moving To A New Server!

As you may have noticed for the past couple weeks. The site has gone down off and on and you got greeted with a error message from CloudFlare. This has NOTHING to do with CloudFlare. Even if I disabled it you would just get a different error message. Thank you all for being patient lately. It’s the current shared hosting not being able to handle us during peak times. So, it’s time for us to upgrade to a VPS server! I’ll put up a “Site Under Maintenance” screen when the move is in the final stages. Which will happen late tonight most likely.

I’ve been working on this for the past couple weeks & now it’s finally ready! It supports betting on 2 – 5 different things. You can bet any amount you’d like as long as it’s between 50 & 1000 points. The more you bet, they more points you get if your bet wins! After you bet it tells you how many points you would win if your bet won. We can have up to 5 different bets running at once if needed! The betting system will track how many points you have bet and how many points you have won back too. When the winning bet is decided, I just need to select the bet that won and it automatically awards all the points out to the winners and clears the logs so it’s ready for another bet. I can give access to other members to do this if needed. Here is how the new notify area works. It displays the number of lotteries or bets you have not entered, in the top black menu. In this example there are 2 lotteries & 2 bets available. This user has entered 1 lottery & 1 bet. Leaving 2 that they need to complete. The ones you need to enter are always at the top of the list. When you click the menu item it takes you to the lottery or bet for easy reference. So what would you like to bet on first? Let me know in the Point Addicts group . Side note: The PS3Blog.net Community has earned 905,434 points together! We got to do something special once we hit 1 million (pinky up) mark! You can see your percentage of all points earned by members by going to your personal points logs. I’m currently sitting at 8.06% myself.

Valve Announces Portal 2 Update Featuring In-Game Editor

This seriously just made my day! It’s the only thing I thought the game was missing at release. “Valve, creators of best-selling game franchises (such as Half-Life, Left 4 Dead, Team Fortress, and Counter-Strike) and leading technologies (such as Steam and Source), today announced the second game add-on for the year’s highest rated multiplatform game, Portal 2, is in development and targeted for release early next year. This major update will feature an easy-to-use in-game map editor that will let users design, build and share their own single-player and co-op test chambers with the community, who will be able to view, play and vote on them with a simple click.”
