Twisted Metal EU Release Delayed

Many of us Europeans looked forward to a bloody good time on Valentine’s Day, and now, all of us will be disappointed. David Jaffe, the co-director and co-lead designer behind Twisted Metal, has recently made an announcement that the EU version’s release date will have to be pushed up to a date that he (at the time) was not even aware of, though he did speculate that it will be some time in March. The main reason for this delay is the stricter censorship laws in some of the EU countries, like for example Germany. These laws will force the team to cut some of it’s content, but as David Jaffe himself stated: 99% of the cuts were in the movies and the movies are still intact and I sat with the editor- who was the same editor of the American movies- and we went thru and addressed the notes from Europe and made sure the stories still worked. I, for one, can rest easier knowing that not much actual game-content has been cut, but I suppose we will have to wait and see how much exactly has been changed. You can read his entire statement here .

Battlefield 3 Server Browser Breakdown and Other Updates

Here’s the good news: the server browser for consoles has been revealed, and here comes the bad news: there will not be private matches on launch and DICE may be going back on their word to provide Battlefield 1943 to PS3 owners. It just seems to be a poor business move by EA to come out and say this info a few days before release. Needless to say, EA came out and said :“The Limited Edition will not come with BF1943, but with the Back to Karkand expansion.” It seems either they have taken back their original promise, or will include it at a later date for us PS3 owners. Hopefully we’ll get more clarification very soon. Moving on to the server browser which seems to be promising and is only available to console versions of the game. Once you get into the multiplayer screen you’ll have 3 options, leaderboards, quick match, and server browser. Inside the server browser option, you can browse between, friends, history, favorites, and search. Within the list of servers, you will find the name, the number of max players, the map, the mode, it’s rank, and it’s ping. Along with joining, you have the option to refresh, and show filter. In what seems to be the filter screen, it’s possible to specify max players, choose your mode, choose your map, choose your preset (this includes normal, hardcore, and infantry), choose whether the match will be ranked or not, and lastly, choose your region. The regions listed so far are Europe, West US, East US, South US, Japan, and Australia. You can also view running games from Official EA servers, and choose not to display full servers. In the screen detailing server information, it will show you all the basic information on the left, while on the right, you can find a much more detailed list of presets. This includes things like friendly fire, regenerative health, only squad leader spawn, and much more. DICE seems to have really stepped up with this new feature and I can’t wait to try it out tomorrow. Can’t wait to see you all on the battlfield. Until then, stay frosty my friends.

PS Vita News Round Up

The Playstation Vita has not lost stride since it’s hands-on reveal at E3 with new articles creeping up virtually by the minute. I am jumping on that bandwagon to bring you guys some of the more recent news and videos so that we can all get our fill (lets face it, we will never get full) of Playstation Vita information. Here is probably the best video I’ve seen that displays the Vita with all of its touch abilities as well as a great selection of games. As we keep hearing, many games will be cross platform with the PS3. This will allow for some type of connectivity from map sharing to online competitive multiplayer action to cloud based game saves to continue your games on the go. Here is the list of games that currently are confirmed to have some type of PS3 online connectivity or game save sharing: Dragon’s Crown Dungeon Defenders Hustle Kings Little Big Planet Modnation Racers Resistance Ruin Streetfighter X Tekken Wipeout 2048 Now as far as the release date, that is still widely unknown. Sony has made a comment that at the very least, Europe is looking at a Jan/Feb 2012 release. Some information behind the scenes say that North America is still being targeted to launch before Christmas. Japan will launch this winter for sure. Little Big Planet Here is a recent video of Little Big Planet on the PS Vita. This is the exact level that I played at the Sony conference as well as the one they allowed others to play at E3. You will see that the multiple puzzles require many types of command inputs from touch screen to touch pad to tilting, etc. Dynasty Warriors Here is the first game play video that I’ve personally seen of Dynasty Warriors. More beat’em up, button smashing game play. Virtua Tennis 4 Virtua Tennis 4 plays exceptionally with the touch screen. You can adjust top spin, bottom spin, etc with just a swipe of the finger on the serve.

Behind the Scenes with Hunted and Lucy Lawless

Bethesda Softworks just released a behind the scene video of Hunted: Demon’s Forge, entitled, “Descent Into Mystery”. In the video, “Lucy Lawless and the team at inXile Entertainment delve into Hunted’s storyline and its characters.” This game is really looking good. The co-op feature sounds really interesting, and I can’t wait to try it out. Hunted is slated for release in North America on May 31, 2011 and Europe on June 3, 2011.

Move Along, Nothing to See Here! Meet L.A. Noire Trailer #3

Interested in finding out what it’s like to be a cop rising through the ranks? Well then check out the new trailer for L.A. Noire. This trailer sums everything up pretty well. Illegal gambling, corruption within the force, and an investigation into the shipment of government-issued morphine killing junkies. That investigate will definitely piss off the local mobsters, so be on your guard. All of the footage in this trailer was taken within the game so this is as real as it’s going to get until the games release on May 17 in the US, and May 20 in Europe and Australia.
