Velocity lives up to fond memories of shoot ‘em-up classics, and you can Teleport too! Featuring genre-busting gameplay innovation and music from Joris de Man (Killzone, N+), Velocity plays like a dream and sounds incredible. In 2212 the distant star Vilio exploded into a red giant, sending an electromagnetic pulse surging into our deep space mining ships, colony cruisers and Special Forces fighters, knocking out their primary power. Now the star is beginning to collapse into a black hole, pulling our stranded fleets to their doom. To make things worse, our warring neighbors have seen reward in our misfortune and have deployed scavengers to prey upon our people! Only one craft is capable of a rescue mission, the Quarp Jet – a spacecraft capable of teleportation! Take control of the world’s first quantum teleport craft in this innovative shooter, using a range of teleport controls to outsmart enemies, solve action based puzzles and rescue helpless survivors from their deep space hideaways. You’ll learn everything you need to know during your first missions, and you better pay attention! Rescuing survivors, boosting, destroying all hostiles, avoiding insta-death laser fields, they are all part of the game, and you must learn how, when and why you must do all this in order to succeed. There are three different types of missions in the game: Search and Rescue, Hostile Forces and Urgency. They are different from one another since new elements are added for each one to keep you coming back for more. For example, one Search and Rescue mission will require you to destroy color coded security energy fields in order to reach the survivors. And, eventually, you’re tasked with more than one objective, such as destroying Hostile Forces while rescuing survivors while warping all over the place AND boosting to make it to the end on time! There are checkpoints on each level in case you are destroyed by your enemies or the obstacles and walls of each level press you against the bottom. There is also a timer and, depending on how fast you are at completing each level, you’ll be rewarded with experience points to increase your rank overall rank. You also get an experience bonus depending on your score, a well as the number of survivors you rescue, and you can replay any level to try and increase your experience points, as well as to obtain a gold medal for a perfect level total. For example, during a Seek and Rescue Mission you can focus on completing the level and rescuing all survivors during your first try, and then focus on quickly completing the level during your second run, and the game won’t force you to do it all at the same time thanks to the autosave after completing each level. BUT, if you want that perfect medal, you have to do everything (score, survivors and time requirements) on a single run. And what is all the experience you gain used for? Why, for unlocking new levels! If you don’t succeed, then you can’t make it to the last mission. Two new abilities are introduced later in the game, keeping things interesting until the end. On mission 15 you are given a level map and the ability to drop telepods by hitting the triangle button, and each level has a limit on how many you can drop, bringing a new degree of strategy to the game. By opening your map, you can return to the telepod that you dropped, which means you can use one when the road splits in two (or three!), and then return to the pod to take a new path and rescue more survivors, or take care of the next security switch in the set. There is also a hidden yellow crystal (or two) in some levels, and they are used to unlock even more extra missions on top of the already available 50 main ones! Velocity even provides some extras: a program called Mines on which you search for active explosive mines on a field, in order to deactivate them; a complete profile on each Hostile you will meet during your quest, giving you insight into their defense, their attack power, speed and agility; a huge in-game trophy system that awards you medals for achieving several objectives such as obtaining a perfect score on every zone, reaching the end of the game, or killing a certain number of enemies by flinging side bombs at them; it even has a functional calculator for your math needs! Velocity is a very welcome entry in the Shoot-em-up genre, and it improves over other games by providing fresh elements that make this a release that all fans of the genre should own. The fast paced action, different types of missions, weapons and power ups make this a great digital offering you can take with you on your PS portable of choice, or enjoy at home on the PS3. Review Pros Cons Fun game that evolves the shoot-em-up genre. Great music Messages take some much needed space on the bottom screen Rating 94% Cost – $4.99 Disclaimer The game was completed before writing this review Total amount of time played: 4 hours This review is based on a PS3/PSP copy of Velocity provided by FuturLab.

Epic Mickey is the only game I have played on the Wii all the way through. It was a great game, and I am extremely excited to see part 2 coming to the PS3. Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two, will allow drop-in, drop-out 2 player co-op, and be fully dualshock and PS Move compatible. You will play as Mickey, with his magical paint brush that wields paint and thinner, and for the first time ever, as Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Walt Disney’s first cartoon star, with his powerful remote control that allows him to command electricity. Mickey and Oswald will return to Wasteland, an alternate world filled with 80 years of forgotten Disney characters and theme park attractions, and work together this time around. “The new co-op play combined with enhanced in-game physics will further enhance the idea that “PlayStyle Matters” – a unique approach to gameplay pioneered by Warren Spector where players dynamically tackle different challenges in order to explore all possibilities and storylines, but with consequences for their chosen actions.” Hit the jump for the much more details, the full press release, and some great screenshots. Screen Shots Game Features Product Features •Available across multiple platforms including Wii, Xbox 360 and the PLAYSTATION 3 system, players will enjoy HD graphics that showcase the vibrant game world. The game will also feature full support for the PlayStation Move. •Players can play as Oswald in drop-in, drop-out 2-player co-op mode. “The Power of Two” will be evident as Oswald participates in Mickey’s adventure every step of the way. •All in-game characters—most notably Oswald The Lucky Rabbit whose voice will be heard for the first time ever—are fully voiced by the official voice actors of those characters. •Players will experience Disney’s forgotten characters and attractions in all-new levels and further explore levels from the original “Disney Epic Mickey” game, but now changed, impacted by world-changing events that have shaken Wasteland apart. New 2D levels based on classic Disney animated films and shorts will offer compelling puzzle-based, platforming gameplay. •Players will enjoy an original game story co-written by award-winning American comic book writer, Marv Wolfman, and Junction Point. The storyline will feature a variety of new and returning characters that will further immerse players in Disney’s rich history while adversaries familiar and new will challenge players. •“Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two” is the first video game that can be described as a “musical,” where at various points during the adventure characters will express themselves and advance the plot by bursting into song. All songs feature original Disney-inspired music and lyrics. Players will also hear tunes and instrumentation that change based on their personal choices, which will ultimately allow each individual to “conduct” their own unique soundtrack. Press Release BURBANK, Calif. – (March 23, 2012) – Disney Interactive Media Group today announced the development of “Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two”, the sequel to the critically acclaimed and commercially successful “Disney Epic Mickey” video game. In “Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two”, gamers will play as Mickey Mouse and for the first time ever, Oswald the Lucky Rabbit, Walt Disney’s first cartoon star, in an all-new adventure of creativity and discovery. Created by video game industry luminary Warren Spector and Disney Interactive’s Junction Point game development studio, “Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two” returns the franchise to the Wii™ system from Nintendo, and expands it to new HD consoles including the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and the PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system. “As a life-long Disney fan, working with Mickey Mouse in the original ‘Disney Epic Mickey’ was a truly humbling experience,” said Warren Spector, creative director and vice president, Junction Point. “Millions of fans fell in love with Mickey as a video game hero and I know they’ll experience similar emotions when they get to interact with and actually play as Oswald the Lucky Rabbit in ‘Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two.’” “Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two” returns Mickey Mouse and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit to Wasteland, an alternate world filled with 80 years of forgotten Disney characters and theme park attractions. But for the first time, Mickey and Oswald will join forces as true partners – Mickey with his magical paint brush that allows him to wield paint and thinner, and Oswald with his powerful remote control that allows him to command electricity. This new co-op play further enhances the idea that “PlayStyle Matters” – a unique approach to gameplay pioneered by Warren Spector where players dynamically tackle different challenges in order to explore all possibilities and storylines, but with consequences for their chosen actions. Staying true to Disney’s rich musical heritage, “Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two” is the first video game that can be described as a “musical.” At many points throughout the adventure, characters will advance the plot by expressing themselves in song, with all-original music and lyrics. In addition to this distinctive musical approach to storytelling, players will hear tunes and instrumentation that change based on their personal choices, ultimately allowing each player to “conduct” their own unique soundtrack. Disney Interactive has enlisted the help of Emmy award-winning composer James Dooley and noted lyricist Mike Himelstein to create these musical gameplay elements. The magic of Disney will not only resonate through the game’s musical numbers, but also through the introduction of authentic Disney Character Voices talent who provide player direction through genuine character dialogue. In “Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two,” all characters—most notably Oswald The Lucky Rabbit whose voice will be heard for the first time—will communicate by speaking to the player. “In the first ‘Disney Epic Mickey title,’ fans embraced Mickey as a true video game hero and welcomed Oswald back into the Disney family with open arms,” said John Pleasants, co-president, Disney Interactive Media Group. “Now, as the vision for the “Disney Epic Mickey’ franchise advances, fans and gamers across all platforms will experience completely new ways to embrace the immeasurable vault of Disney characters and attractions.” Development for “Disney Epic Mickey 2: The Power of Two” is being led by Disney Interactive’s Junction Point. Supporting the latest technology, the game will also feature full support for the PlayStation Move. The game currently is unrated by the ESRB.
Uncharted is a game that needs no introduction. Nathan Drake and friends have molded their selves deeply in the hearts of many gamer’s in the past with Uncharted 1, 2 and 3 on the PS3 and Golden Abyss is no different. Sony Bend made Golden Abyss in such a fashion that it shows off most of the new control schemes for the Vita. Some are cumbersome while others work very well. One of the first things I noticed was the stick sensitivity for aiming. I had a hard time getting heads shots or any shots at all for that matter but after messing with it for a while, I noticed that tilting the Vita helped hone in on shot accuracy. Basically you move the aiming reticle as close to an enemy as possible then just slightly tilt/yaw the Vita to maximize accuracy. My only problem with it is the tilt motion is inverted with no option to reverse it that I can find. Like Uncharted 1, there are a few QTE’s involved in the game play but unlike the first Uncharted, these are done with the touch screen. Several fights will require you to swipe the screen in a certain direction. Cutting bamboo may force you to basically draw a letter Z on the screen. All of this is done pretty well with the exception of having to clean off objects or treasures that you find along the way. In one scene you find a helmet that is caked with mud and grime. You need to clean it off by rubbing the screen with your finger. This is all fine and dandy, however you need to spin the object to clean off the other sides by using the back touch pad. The problem is holding the Vita without touching the back touch pad to clean off mud, then spin the object to clean off a little more without it spinning out of control on you because your finger is resting on the back touch pad. Speaking of treasures, if you are one of the OCD treasure/trophy finders in games, then Uncharted: Golden Abyss will tickle your fancy. There are tons of treasures everywhere with a unique journal method of documenting them. All treasures are put into categories. When you complete a category, you get an additional trophy but these treasures could be spread over several chapters and once completed will queue a monologue to tell you about the final result of all the clues that you found. Many of these treasures are will hidden, even more so than the PS3 versions in my opinion. However not all are shiny golden treasures. Some hidden treasures fall under the “mystery” category such as taking a picture of certain objects with Drakes handy little camera (this thing must be rugged because Drake takes a beating yet his camera always works…). Other mysteries are charcoal rubbings which makes use of the touch screen as well. The story is good but did not suck me in like the other Uncharted’s did. It just seemed a little dull overall. Drake has a friend with a questionable moral compass who leads Drake through several inconvenient situations where he meets a girl with good intentions and gets very close which results in him getting into even more trouble than if he had just stayed with the horrible friend to begin with. All in all Uncharted: Golden Abyss is a GREAT game and an excellent way to introduce a new console. The game does feel like the console versions through and through but with portable gaming style additions which do not detract from the immersion at all. *(You will notice below that I put “PS3 experience on a mobile device” as a pro and as a con. Some people really like that idea, others do not. As such, it can’t really be called a pro or a con but it is important enough to potentially sway someone’s opinion of the game so I felt the need to add it in) Review Pros Cons Same Uncharted cinematic feel Excellent touch screen and motion controls Revamped treasure system is amazing PS3 experience on a mobile device Forced to use touch screen and motion Using back touch pad and touch screen at the same time can be cumbersome Story could have been more refined PS3 experience on a mobile device Rating 80%

This is awesome! EA is sending early copies of the upcoming Mass Effect 3 into space! The games are equipped with GPS and attached to weather balloons which can be tracked via EA’s website HERE . I have to admit this is slick. Official Announcement is as follows To celebrate Commander Shepard’s war to take Earth back, Mass Effect 3 will be the first console game launched into Earth’s upper atmosphere on a historic voyage. And you have a chance to take home a piece of that history. Starting February 23rd, various cities across the globe will host their very own Space Edition launches. Starting with San Francisco, CA and ending in Berlin, Germany. Track the packages on their flights and be the first to arrive at the landing zone to win an early copy of Mass Effect that has survived space travel. Each Space Edition also comes with an on-of-a-kind fan prize package. Other prizes will also be given out to runner-up participants (subject to availability). Check back soon for rules and contest entry. Source: EA

I’ve always been a fan of Batman. Except when George Clooney donned the Bat suit and pretty much spit in the face of every Batman fan with his performance. And as far as the movie problems – minus Val Kilmer & Clooney – has been fixed with Mr. Nolan behind the Hollywood camera lens goes. I can honestly say that I have not looked forward to any Batman movie related release like I have for this final chapter of the series. Nolan will be sorely missed at the helm for what he has done for the Batman universe. Now with that being said: excitement carries over when it comes to any relatable franchise. Whether it’s your favorite movie, food, sport – favorite anything, really. In this case, Batman being my favorite thing. So I scour the interwebs for my favorite thing, any news at all. Anything to quell my insatiable appetite for all things Batman. I have found Gotham City Impostors. This without a doubt, is probably the best downloadable (available on the PSN now) game I have ever played – ever. That’s a bold statement, I know. You have to realize its not just a game. It’s a way for you to immerse yourself as the masked vigilante himself, minus the expensive non-lethal gadgets, of course. Wait …Let back up a minute… Gotham City Impostors features death match, capture the flag and domination type online gameplay. You’re either on Team Batman or Team Jokerz for all three different match modes. Gotham City Impostors has the ability for you to level up 1000 times (not a typo) and unlock hand built/garage-part type weapons to completely dominate and destroy your opponent. You can also unlock gadgets that assist you in doing this as well as perks; such as the the “body odor” sniffer which is a x-ray spec type perk that highlights enemies in a orange/yellow color making them easier to hunt them down and kill them like the animals they are. Customization is what this game does best. And you can customize everything and there’s no punchline, you really can customize everything: Guns Calling Cards Loadouts Characters Your Profile Voices Body Types And I’ve customized everything to my liking, the way I think it suits my gameplay. Which is refreshing for once. I have four different load outs, two of which are for certain maps just by themselves. My favorite weapon so far is called “The Shredder” and it does just that. Think of the weapon that Gary Oldman tries to sell the aliens in “The Fifth Element” and instead of it using bullets, it shoots out ball bearings utilizing a 60 round clip. It’s as brutal as it sounds and twice as fun to shoot. The whole game is like this…just plain fun. Combine that with voice chat ability, trophies and the first planned chapter of DLC (coming soon via Monoliths’ website) for this game will be FREE . That’s right, FREE. I’ll going ahead and let that soak in and give you a chance to let that absorb. Let’s recap: Batman Online Game Modes Full Customization Complete and Utter Destruction Voice Chat Trophies First pack of DLC Free Fully Downloadable All this for only $15 USD Lastly, I’d just like to give Monolith (makers of the game) a firm handshake for making such a game in the first place. The imagination and talent in their office/staff must be running rampant like a bull in a china shop. I for one look forward to any add ons that are on the way for this unique and must own title. And if you feel like you got the grapes – send me a friend request (PSN ID: FooBear408) and let’s do this barnyard dance. I have to warn you, I’m no slouch and currently hovering at an awesomeness level of 62. I give this game 4 bats out of 5 (90/100). This review is based on a PS3 edition of Gotham City Impostors developed by Monolith Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.
