New Game Releases for the Week of 09/05

Alright, first off, I’m sorry that I’m WAY behind on this! I keep adding work for myself to do on here, and a few things wound up getting left on the back burner (for instance, my Sam and Max review, in which I need to finish off reviewing the last three chapters, but I will try to get those as soon as I replay each of them again). Anyway, biggest release this week in the states is, for me anyway, Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions. HAWX 2 and RUSE are also released. A load of Move titles (hardware releases next week) have been released as well (though Amazon currently says they’re not). The former three will also be released in EU territories tomorrow, while AU only gets RUSE and HAWX 2. Nothing listed this week in Japan (well, so says the source anyway). Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions – 09/07/10 // ESRB T H.A.W.X. 2 – 09/07/10 // ESRB T R.U.S.E. – 09/07/10 // ESRB T NHL 11 – 09/07/10 // ESRB E10+ EyePet – 09/07/10 // ESRB E Kung Fu Rider – 09/07/10 // ESRB E10+ Start the Party – 09/07/10 // ESRB E Sports Champions – 09/07/10 // ESRB E10+ Spider-Man: Shattered Dimensions – 09/10/10 // PEGI 12 H.A.W.X. 2 – 09/10/10 // PEGI 12 R.U.S.E. – 09/10/10 // PEGI 16 H.A.W.X. 2 – 09/09/10 // OFLC PG R.U.S.E. – 09/09/10 // OFLC PG None Listed Release dates provided by VGReleases.com

New PS3 Game Answers One Age Old Question

Why did the chicken cross the road? To get into fisticuffs with the chihuahua!                         Tokyo Jungle, a new game announced by Sony for the PS3, is a follow up of Afrika. Unlike Afrika, this game takes place on the streets of an uninhabited Tokyo in the year 20XX.  There are no humans in the game to play as. Instead you take control of 1 out of 80 different types of animials who have nothing else to do but duke it out in the desolate city.                        Tokyo Jungle will include a Story Mode and Survival Mode and will release in Japan sometime this Winter.

July was the first full month of sales for the new SKU.

This is Dead Rising 2’s Japanese boxart

Look at that fear on the face of that little girl. It’s so real, you can practically smell the awful stench of rotting human flesh on the zombies. I’d have to say, that headphones she’s got on has got me imagining “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” is playing in the background, as in John Woo’s Face/Off, while they’re fighting off the zombies. Yep, that’s the boxart for Dead Rising 2 in Japan, which will be arriving on their shores on September 30, 2010. North America, on the other hand, will get earlier by a couple of days on September 28th. Any one buying this game? I’m certainly showing interest. Via [ Examiner ]

Uncharted 2 Gets World Cup Fever

From now until July 12th Naughty Dog has added sixteen new skins to Uncharted 2. The sixteen skins represent the nations that successfully progressed to the second round of the World Cup. Those nations include Argentina, Brazil, Chile, England, Germany,Ghana, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Paraguay,Portugal,Slovakia,South Korea,Spain,United States & Uruguay. Apparently Drake and Flynn are the only soccer fans of Uncharted because those are the only two who can wear the temporary World Cup skins. If your favorite World Cup team is one of sixteen listed be sure to represent them online in Uncharted 2 before it’s too late. Source

In case anyone forgot there was a live action Tekken movie released in the theaters of Japan this past March. The film may not see a release outside of the country but you will be able to pick it up on Blu-ray when it becomes available in Japan this August and in the UK on September 1, 2010. There’s been no confirmation on a North American Blu-ray release. Blu-Ray box art .

New Game Releases for the Week of 05/16/10

Pretty big week this week. First of all, the EU and Australia will be getting ModNation Racers this week, ahead of the US release next week. This week’s biggest title (universally, anyway) is, by far, Red Dead Redemption, and with overwhelmingly positive reviews across the board, it could wound up being this year’s Game of the Year. Of course, there are still 6 and a half months left before we know for sure, though. Split/Second (US and EU) and the new Prince of Persia title (US) also release this week. Other than that, Lost Planet 2 releases in Japan this week, and the US gets the release of Shrek Forever After, while the Eu gets a hold of the Nat Geo Quiz title. PlayStation 3 Red Dead Redemption – May 18th // ESRB M Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands – May 18th // ESRB T Split/Second – May 18th // ESRB E10+ Shrek Forever After – May 18th // ESRB E ModNation Racers – May 21st // PEGI 7 Red Dead Redemption – May 21st // PEGI 18 Split/Second – May 21st // PEGI 7 NatGeo Quiz! PSP sales have really dropped in the US, but are extremely strong, and even outselling the DS in Japan. In the US, and only in the US, 360 consoles continue to outsell PS3, despite PS3 having a better price/value ratio and a higher quality game library that sells higher volumes to a smaller user base. Interpretation : In the US, the Xbox 360 is selling on brand name, and not hardware quality, software library, or price/value ratio. By most metrics, PS3 has cumulatively surpassed the 360 in Japan and regions other than Japan and US. Only in the US does the 360 maintain a cumulative sales lead. (We don’t yet have complete Japan software sales for March. The data is available, but would require too much effort to compile. garaph.info is about a month out of date)

Demon’s Souls FINALLY Coming To Europe!

IGN is reporting that Namco Bandai will publish the highly acclaimed Demon’s Souls in Europe. There’s no mention of official dates or pricing but Namco Bandai are expected to make an announcement on the 16th April: Demon’s Souls looks to finally be making its way to Europe, courtesy of Namco Bandai who are likely to be publishing From Software’s astounding PlayStation 3 exclusive later this year. Originally released by Sony Computer Entertainment in Japan last February, Atlus picked up Demon’s Souls for an October release in October last year, with Namco Bandai set to become the third publisher when it launches in Europe. A uniquely punishing role-playing game, Demon’s Souls is widely regarded as one of 2009’s finest games, and its mix of classic dungeon crawler traits with innovative online features and structure have won it countless fans. Our in-depth review will help flesh out the details. There’s no word on a release date just yet, though Namco Bandai is set to make an official statement tomorrow. Fantastic news if you’re not into importing games such as myself. I just hope it gets an Australia release which it should as Australia is a PAL territory… Giddyup! Demon Souls coming to Europe
