Recap Another big week. We had a few reviews to read, if you want to check out those. We also got a couple new Blog team members, and there are a bunch of videos to check out. FooBear went to the Dragon Age II event last week, and brought back some goodies he’s giving away on the blog (including some really cool coasters). It also seems that the NGP is still making quite the appearance in the news, reeling in from it’s unveiling a couple weeks ago. We also got a sneak peak at things to come for PlayStation Plus subscribers, as well as information on upcoming games. The Killzone 3 multiplayer open beta also released later in the week, and with it, we had a couple game day/nights. Some people claim it can’t be a beta, given how the game is already golden, but I think my assumption was correct in that they were testing potential launch day server load problems, and are ironing them out before the game’s release. Community News & Game Nights First of all, congratulations to Oly and Luke for becoming part of the PS3Blog.net team! Also, Tosh has added another feature to the site, but we’re only trying it out for now (since it’s free). If you want to rate and review movies and games, we have this whole review thing set up here . What’s Up? So this past month has been pretty hectic for me, and thus, my overall activity on the site has died down quite a bit and I haven’t found the time to work on the recaps. So, with 4 weeks gone, and not one single recap, I decided this time, instead of having 4 separate recaps, I would just put them all into one, but instead of loading the recap with individual tabs seen in other recaps, I decided to put each week into its own tab. Anyway, we had a ton of giveaways, a bunch of reviews, and a lot of catch-up work for me to do (thanks guys and gals ). There was a LOT to cover, so your best bet is to go through the date tabs and find out what you might have missed! There were a few things I didn’t know about until I started this… Community News There are a few new things from over the past couple weeks. In case you missed it, Tosh had another Double Points spasm and granted points from the posting through to the rest of November. Since he is always running these types of events, it’s always a good idea to watch out for those and take advantage of them while they’re active! One new feature is the Sitewide Notices , which are located on the top of the sidebar. These let you know of current, ongoing and upcoming events, including contests, giveaways and game nights. Like Halloween, we have winter/holiday-themed banners up at the top again, to get into the festive spirit. So far, we’ve had two up, and Tosh is still open for more, so be sure to make your own and post them here ! And finally, out of charity, Tosh will donate 10% of what the site gets (from ads and purchasing from the Amazon and Zazzle stores) to the Child’s Play charity. If you want to help, be sure to buy things from those stores! The other 90%, of course, is used to help with giveaways and maintaining the site. So it turns out, we had a few contests over the past few weeks. First of all, Markus wound up being the winner of the ModNation Racers giveaway , and has already received his prize. Right after that, we had a giveaway for a copy of Nail’d, in which EdEN won that one . Following that giveaway, Tosh held another one for the co-writers of the site, which included free games, a shirt and points. The winners are listed here . The Weekly Recap (Super Recap Edition, Nov. 21st-Dec. 18th)

This Week Just to let you know, this will be the last Weekly Recap to count trailer, gameplay and ad videos toward the recognitions, since there isn’t much substance in terms of writing. Trailers included with stories will, as always, be under a different section anyway, and will still be counted. I only chose to change the counting like this because we seem to have a lot more simple video posts than any other type of article over the past few weeks. This Week This week, there wasn’t as much news as before. That doesn’t mean that the news we did get wasn’t any good, though. This Week Finally, 3 Recaps in one day. Hopefully I won’t have to do this again! The month of October is almost over already (it seems like it just started). With trophies, contests and the like going on, there’s always something to do here. Yeah, it’s been a slow few weeks with the news posting, but it’s sure to pick up. This Week Yeah, I’m about 2 weeks or so late on this one and I apologize for that. Stuff came up and I hadn’t had time to really post anything on here. It also seems I wasn’t the only one. For this week in particular, we only managed to get 18 articles posted, a far cry from our usual 30 or so. After this one, I still have 2 more to post, so be patient with those! It shouldn’t take too long since news has been relatively slow anyway. The Weekly Recap (October 3rd-9th)

So a couple of minutes ago I received an e-mail that Netflix on the PS3 has gone disc-less. As you can tell from my high-tech photo, I’m not kidding. I am a little upset that they didn’t capitalize my first name, but I guess it’s something I will have to live with. If for some reason you go into the “What’s New” section and you can’t find the Netflix update, you can click the Netflix app from under Video and you will be able to update it that way. The update shouldn’t take very long as it was only 19MB’s. As you recall though last week I posted a video of the news that the Netflix app was coming this week. You can find it here if you missed it. Now it’s cool that we have Netflix on our PS3’s disc free and all but, honestly I like the app they showed last week better. It was just a little more organized compared to the one they released today. If you try it, let me know your thoughts.

Netflix Disc Free App on PS3 LIVE

Finally, the news that many have been waiting for… no not Xross-Game-Chat. Starting next week the PS3 is being freed from the clutches of requiring a Netflix disc for all your watching pleasures. In addition to this change there is a new user interface that brings a much richer and faster browsing experience, content search directly on the device, and dramatic improvements in how fast playback starts, even 1080i 1080p on select videos. Also a good portion of the content will now include subtitles.
