The latest PSN (and PC and XBLA) Lara Croft title received a long-awaited patch yesterday that allows for online co-op play. The game takes a turn from the usual Lara Croft FPS formula by presenting the characters in a somewhat distant 3rd-person perspective. The game is much more an action-puzzler than a shooter. Integral to the game dynamic is co-op play with two characters who have unique abilities: Lara and Totec, the fleshly manifestation of an Aztec god. In single player, Lara gets all of Totec’s abilities in addition to her own, and the game gets, well, boring. My wife and I have had fun with the local co-op, so online co-op is a most welcome addition.

While the PC version of Square Enix’s mmorpg has been available to the masses since September, it’s PS3 counterpart needed extra development time. According to reports work on the PS3 version has been completed. Both games are said to be identical, with the exception of a few texture differences. Both versions will also share the same servers. No word on when, if any, beta testing for the PS3 version will take place.

This image was posted over at the Playstation.Blog to give us some stats which we can season with some salt and pepper to spice up the hype: Sony promises more stats (Oh, glorious Joy!) during the week when the Sports Champions team shares some of their numbers. So, did it convince any of you to run out and buy a Move ASAP?

Here is the original:
Playstation Move: It Only Does Stats
The official PlayStation Blog is proud to announce at this moment that the PS Move has shipped over one million units in North America alone to retailers. Since it’s release, the PlayStation Move controller has been selling at a rate that has exceeded Sony’s own expectations for the peripheral and they couldn’t be happier. They didn’t specify how many of those units are of the bundle variety (which includes Sports Champions and a PS3 Eye to track the controller). So far, the games available for the PlayStation 3 that either are Move exclusive, or use the new controller to some extent (mini games, available for some modes only, game has been patched to take advantage of the new input), are: Brunswick Pro Bowling EyePet Get Fit With Mel B Heavy Rain High Velocity Bowling Hustle Kings John Daly’s ProStroke Golf Kung Fu Rider MAG NBA 2K11 Planet Minigolf Racquet Sports Rapala Pro Bass Fishing Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition (Yep, Gold Edition only. Has something to do with remastering the BS in the game). R.U.S.E Sports Champions Start The Party! The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn’s Quest The Shoot Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2011 Time Crisis: Razing Storm Toy Story 3: The Video Game Tumble TV Superstars There are some other games soon to be released that will also make use of the Move: The Fight: Lights Out, which is a PlayStation Move exclusive game in which you use TWO PS Move controllers to do some actual fighting, because each Move unit controls one of your fists punch-wise and, thanks to the PS Eye, it allows you to block, move, and dodge your opponent, since the camera is not only tracking the lighted spheres of the Move, but it is also tracking your head movement for some realistic motions. A lot of motion capture work has been done to ensure that the game feels just right and that your on-screen character reacts properly to the way you’re moving around. You can even go down the dirty path and elbow, headbutt or sucker punch your opponent, since all is fair when you’re done talking smack and are actually taking the fight to the street. The game will be available at retailers on November 9 for only $39.99. Another option for the new Move owner could be Singstar Dance, the new game in the long standing Singstar franchise from Sony. This time around, not only can you sing, sing, sing to your hearths desire but you must also bust-a-move to the rhythm of the night! It will have 30 songs included on disc (with everything from Lady Gaga to Sir Mix-A-Lot) , with more to follow soon as DLC (no price point has been revealed for DLC tracks). It will also ship on November 9 for $39.99, BUT you can also get the Singstar Dance Party Pack which includes the game, 2 microphones, and the USB dongle needed for them to work… for the same price as the standalone game. The standalone game is there in case you’re already up to your neck in microphones, and it’s great to have the option available. And for those in need of their platforming fix, the Sly (dropping the Cooper last name, like Madonna) Collection will also launch on November 9 for the low, low price of only $39.99 (mmm, do I see a trend popping around?). Included in the disc are all three full PS2 Sly Cooper games remastered at a rock solid 60 fps and upscaled (and apparently in some cases, retextured) resolution of 720p. Each game has it’s own set of trophies AND a platinum, which makes for a whole lotta love for the fans. The Move controller is supported in the extra mini games that have been made available as an extra for the collection, and there are even extra trophies to go along with them. So, if you already own a Move controller, or if you’re considering a purchase, there’s a great selection of games that can provide you with your necessary daily doses of fun-fun. More Move exclusive and Move enabled games are to be released once 2011 starts, so start saving.

Took them long enough but now No More Heroes: Heroes Paradise will get a release over here with Move support added. Konami will be in charge of publishing the game. No release date was set other than letting us know it won’t be out until 2011. Hope they get rid of the bugs from the japanese release and decide to go budget price.

T3 reported earlier today of Vidzone hitting a milestone half a billion music video views since it’s launch in June of last last year. It now seems that 3.7 million people turn on their ps3 just to use the free, ad-supported app to stream music videos.
By the time Microsoft’s Kinect hits retail Sony’s PlayStation Move will have been available for a little over a month in NA and EU ( it’s releasing this week in Japan ). Including retail and PSN games patched to support the peripheral, Move launched with a total of 15 Move compatible games. Today Microsoft has announced it’s lineup of 17 games for Kinect’s release. How does it stack up against what’s currently available on Move? PlayStation Move Kinect Flight Control HD PSN Kinect Adventures Hustle Kings PSN Kinectimals Eyepet Move PSN Game Party: In Motion Pain PSN Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 1 Plant Minigolf PSN Your Shape Fitness Evolved Tumble PSN Dance Central High Velocity Bowling PSN The Biggest Loser Ultimate Workout Kung Fu Rider Retail DanceMasters Racket Sports Retail EA Sports Active 2- PS3, 360 Start the Party Retail Zumba Fitness RUSE Retail Kinect Sports Resident Evil 5 (Gold Edition) Retail Motion Sports Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2011 Retail Deca Sports Freedom Toy Story 3 Retail Kinect Joy Ride Sports Champions Retail Adrenalin Misfits Heavy Rain Retail Fighters Uncaged Sonic Free Riders Despite being criticized for a lack of games at launch, Sony’s PlayStation Move featured titles for everyone. From Eyepet Move to Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition ( via patch ), Move has games for both hardcore and casual gamers. Where as a majority of Kinect’s current lineup of titles range from sports games, fitness games and Harry Potter. Even Though Kinect has an impressive number of titles for it’s launch lineup, many of them are too similar. With a more diverse lineup of games available for the PlayStation Move I’d give Sony the early edge software wise against Microsoft’s Kinect.
