X-men Destiny Game Just Announced

Marvel and Activision today announced  a new game called X-men Destiny. The game will allow the player to take on the role of a new mutant recruit to play “in a rich, branching storyline that features a deep element of choice and gives players ultimate control of their destiny.” Hopefully this will be an epic RPG set in the X-men universe, with great multiplayer options. (One can dream can’t he?) Very little was revealed, however as the New York Comic Con starts tommorow, we are sure to hear more. The official site at http://www.herohq.com/xmendestiny has gone live, but reveals nothing so far. Stay tuned to PS3blog.net as I’ll keep you posted to any new info as it arrives.

New Red Dead Multiplayer Mode

As you already know, the upcoming “Liars & Cheats” addon-pack for Red Dead Redemption brings multiplayer card and dice games to the virtual table, but it also adds a new multiplayer mode called “Strong Hold”. Strong Hold mode offers capture-the-zone gameplay. The attacking team has to secure some control-points, the other team tries to prevent this. Once the attacking team runs out of lives or time, the roles are reversed. The maps also contain a safe that need to be cracked to obtain a new weapon called “explosive rifle”. Following maps are available for Strong Hold: Blackwater, Escalera, Fort Mercer and Thieves Landing. The trailer below gives you a better idea of what to expect, the fun begins at the 50 sec marker:

Special Red Dead Redemption Sale Crashes GameStop

Today at 12:00pm est GameStop kicked off their powerhour sale. During the sales event GameSpot began offering one of the biggest games of 2010, Red Dead Redemption, for more than half off. The PS3 version of RDR was discounted to the attractive price of just $23.99. Once word spread about the powerhour sale, GameStop’s website was subjected to heavy traffic that caused the site to crashed  with reports of errors such as “Server too Busy” or loads a blank screen. GameStop’s sister site, EBGames, which also featured the sale, received similar server problems as well. The sale ended at 1:00pm est and both sites are up an running smoothly again. A quick check of both websites reveal that the sale was a success as Red Dead Redemption is sold out.  Hope you got your copy. Source

Red Dead: Game Night 7/10

We are glad to announce that PS3Blog.net’s third Red Dead Redemption game night is fast approching. On Saturday July 10th from 8:30PM EST -11:00PM EST or later, Sinlock and Demerson will be co-hosting an night of Rodeo themed violence. Last week we started offering Prizes and although no one won the Special prize, over 650 Blog Points were awarded. Prizes will be awarded to players who bring extra life to the game. Be it by shooting skills, dying skills, antics, teamwork, or anything we deem to be cool. Awards will be in the form of Blog Points. If there is someone who puts their best foot forward and really blows us away they will recive a special prize thats a bit more tangible. Baring that the prize will be caried over to a later event. At 8:30 Sinlock will host a Pre-game in Public Free Roam to help others earn the “Have Gun Will Travel’ and “Hit the Trail” Trophies and any others that may be needed. At 9:00PM the Official game will begin, We will move to a Private Free Roam game that will be invite only*. We’ll do a mix of Free Roam and Co-Op. At 10:00PM Things get personal with Gang match ups, Free for all, Gold rush, Grab the bag, and other ways of killing your fellow man. Here are some details. Due to the way in how RDR handles parties, only people on a players Friends list can be invited into a Private Match. To get around this limitation people wishing to join us for Game Night should send an PSN friend request to one of the two Co-hosts. Please mention PS3Blog.net Game Night in the topic and your user name on the Blog so we know who you are. Lots of people use a different name on PSN than on the Blog. Sinlock’s PSN = Sinlock and Demerson’s PSN = DZounar Mic/Headsets are not required but will help make it more enjoyable for everyone. Almost any Bluetooth headset can be used with the PS3. The responce from past weeks of Game Night has shown that the members want to make use of the Co-Op missions. Now that the Co-Op has been fixed and is stable we have added it to the normal lineup of games we’ll play. There is a limitation with Co-Op in that you group is limited to only four (4) players. So the chance of a posse being broken up is likely. We are trying to figure a work around for this that might include breaking up into multiple groups. If you have not downloaded the new DLC for Red Dead Redemption make sure you do so, It’s free and only takes 15 mins to do. ** PS3Blog.net is a family friendly community although we are killing each other, we will be gentlemen about it. That way the hosts do not have to make use of the boot feature**
