Dead Rising 2 Cover Revealed
After a dismal first few years with sporadic sales boost from time-to-time, sales of the PS3 really didn’t catch fire until the official introduction of the PS3 SLIM nearly a year ago. At $299 the PS3 SLIM was finally at the right price for those who were hesitant to purchase the machine at it’s previous price tag. The hardware gap between Sony’s and Microsoft’s systems quickly shrank thanks to the PS3 SLIM. Companies like Activision predicted that the PS3 would outsell the 360 this year. With huge software titles releasing this year, God of War 3, Final Fantasy XIII and Heavy Rain, Sony’s PS3 was finally in a winning position. Unfortunately none of these titles pushed hardware sales for the system. Not even the highly anticipated exclusive God of War 3. This is due to the fact that the PS3 SLIM has been plagued by shortages. Depending on where you live, you’d be hard pressed to find a system in stores, including GameStop. In a recent earnings call with investors, GameSpot warned that PS3 shortages are expected to continue.”Consequently, I can tell you that we do anticipate that we will be in that situation for the PS3 for another couple of months, unfortunately, because we could sell a lot more hardware than what we have on both that and the Wii platform.” While Sony found a way to sabotage it’s own success for nearly a year with PS3 shortages ( intentional or not ) Microsoft hasn’t wasted anytime with their new 360 design and getting it into stores. The newly designed XBox 360 is the same price as the PS3 SLIM with the older models receiving a price cut. Millions of XBox fans will probably jump on the new design which will boost sales of the system for the foreseeable future. Not to mention those who may be interested in purchasing a PS3 SLIM for a family member but can’t find one in stock will be encouraged to buy the competition’s product. Sony may be competing with Microsoft in the battle for the all important second place, but sometimes it seems that Sony is it’s own worse enemy.

Red Dead Redemption Chronicles Contest!
… or Texas Shoot’em! Times were tough in New Austin, and I was really short on actual. Hunting animals was not profitable, and all the outlaws vanished from the town. Heck, I need to buy some tobaccos, my dead eye is literally dead. So what a cowboy would do? I decided to gamble, that should be the easiest way to earn some cash. I rode my horse from Thieves Landing to Escalera, where it was said the poker tables were good source of money from dumb Federales. That was a hell of a ride, but I finally managed to arrive before sunset. Thanks to my new horse, the old one put me down in a cactus plant and I had to shoot him in the head. Well, a horse is a horse, that’s what they say. I entered the saloon, and I was acock by the flannel mouths surrounding the abandons. Since I was interested in money, I went straight to the poker room. Hum, that should be easy, four Mexicans should not offer any resistance. Everything was going right, I won some hands, lost a handful of others, when I got two queens and decided to take a final blow. The Flop was good, an ace and a queen alongside with a minor one. I bet all my chips and waited for the fishes to bite the bait. No yield, all the chips at the table. Problem is that this granger called Henrico Trujedas had two aces in his hand, and he definitely got my back up when he said something like ‘Perdeste, Cabron!’. I did not even think about the matter, stood up from my seat and put two bullets in his head. He was a four-flusher, I could see it in his eyes! Of course the others Mexicans in the table started to kick up a row, and they followed the same destiny as Henrico. Now I’m cornered in this room, with four corpses and a bunch of deputies trying to get in, But they won’t get me alive, my name’s John Marston and dynamite is ready to bl………. Red Dead Redemption DLC in June 21st!
News So far Red Dead Redemption has turned out to be everything I had hoped for. It is extremely entertaining and looks to be a game I’ll enjoy for a long time to come. If you haven’t picked it up yet, you should. With that said, an exciting announcement today about free future DLC was released. Make sure u check out the DLC tab above for more on that! Today, Rockstar has announced that there will be an update to fix some issues with the game in place by the end of next week. They have also announced that the “Expert Hunter and Savvy Merchant outfits and related challenges” will become available later this summer for free (picture available in the Press Release tab). DLC: Outlaws to the End There will be a DLC Pack called “Outlaws to the End” released on June 22. This will have 6 co-op missions for 2 to 4 players, and will give new xp rewards, as well as the ability to unlock new trophies. Source Three of the six missions are described here: These six explosive and epic missions will play out across the game world, including: “Walton’s Gold” Walton’s Gang have taken control of a mining camp rich with gold. Fight through the camp and load your mine cart with as much gold as you can carry and get out as fast as you can – Walton’s boys have rigged the place to blow! “The River” Ride a raft down river, taking out rebel encampments along the way until you reach the rebel stronghold of Nosalida and a final epic battle for the town’s massive weapons caches. Watch out for Gatling gun-equipped enemy rafts. “Ammunition” The Mexican Army has the town of Tesoro Azul under siege. Storm the gates under heavy cannon, Gatling gun and sniper fire to destroy the Mexican artillery placements. Source Press Release We are aware that there are still some of you out there experiencing issues with Red Dead Redemption, including multiplayer connectivity and getting the Mo Van Barr bounty. We are currently testing a Red Dead Redemption title update for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 that aims to fix these and other items. Due to the unpredictable nature of the testing and console manufacturer submission process, we cannot pin down a very specific date and time, but we do expect this to be released for download for both systems by the end of next week. We can assure you we are working with our partners at Microsoft and Sony to make this title update available literally as soon as possible. Once again, we thank everyone for their continued patience and understanding. As a token of our appreciation for your patience and in gratitude to all the Red Dead fans out there, we are also planning on releasing the Expert Hunter and Savvy Merchant outfits and related challenges later this summer for free. Please stay tuned for more details on that – as well as on the Outlaws to the End Co-Op Missions DLC Pack coming for free later this month. Red Dead Redemption patches and DLC coming soon!
Highlights Bad week for me the past week. Lots of sleep due to being doped up on meds . I never did get to the weeklies last week due to illness. I did manage to get 100% on Red Dead Redemption, though . Hopefully I’m at the tail end of this sickness right now, though. Anyway, what about this week’s highlights? We’ve had a total of 19 main articles this week. The 2101 PS3s are hitting store shelves . There is also talk that the premium PSN service will be called PSN+ . Kung Fu Live! has finally made an appearance , and looks pretty fun. Thrustmaster finally came out with a cockpit , and will hopefully inspire others to make them as well (I’m looking at you Logitech). And Insomniac has finally made official that they are creating a multiplatform IP . Darrin also has some points for Red Dead Redemption , and I followed that up with an Official Review . Other than that, not much else in terms of news, but be sure to check on the back posts anyway! Community News Nothing going on in the Community this week. It was definitely a slow week for a lot of us. It’s still nice to see commentating on articles, of course. Remember, if you want to submit news to us, you can by becoming a writer! The Weekly Recap (May 23rd-29th)
This Week What a week. I haven’t really posted anything this week, due to the release of Red Dead Redemption (the review is still being worked on, but will definitely be available this week once I get some more online time with it). And then on Friday, I went to a concert, and some other stuff happened here and there, and that’s why I’m posting it now (earlier today we had a slight scare, though, as my uncle almost went into a diabetic coma, but he snapped out of it and looked around as the paramedics were taking him out of the house and asked them “what the hell are you doing here?” ). Anyway, there were quite a few interesting stories this week. Killzone 3 happened to be announced via the newest edition of Game Pro (you’d think they would have kept that under wraps until E3, but given the fact that we know about it now, it will, undoubtedly, make it’s public showing at the event). A much better trailer for Call of Duty: Black Ops also made it online. The MUBI service is also hitting the PS3 (most likely just in Europe, though). And also, Kevin Butler and Jack Tretton face off against each other in ModNation Racers in the newest Artist Spotlight. As far as rumors go, I think that this might be a precursor to maybe both hosting Sony’s press conference next month. Speaking of rumors, some still think the PSN premium service will be announced next month as well. There are also even more PSP2 rumors. Going back to Red Dead Redemption, there have been numerous glitches after it’s launch, but Rockstar has since patched the title . You can also read Darrin’s quick comparison of that and GTAIV here . And finally, you can read Trev’s review of ModNation Racers here . Community News This week, the giveaway for the free gift cards , etc. ended last night, and Tosh had posted the winners, and are as follows: 1st Prize – kennygk 2nd Prize – cardoso 3rd Prize – Macdory Congratulations to you guys! And just a heads up, there are also a few new features on the site as well. You can now easily embed videos in the ‘Community’ part of the site . If the site is compatible, all you have to do is paste the URL and it will automatically embed the video for you (unless the author has embedding disabled on the video). Also, you can now easily access your points log , and view other peoples, too! If you want, add me (let me know who you are and that you’re from this site). My PSN is JimmyMagnum. I mostly do the gang hideouts, but if you want to do one of the other games, feel free, as I’ll likely join in. I don’t know where my headset is, though. Poll Results There’s still no poll up for this week yet, but Tosh should have the official results posted today, as well as the new poll . Thank You Well, that’s it for this week! With E3 getting closer and closer, we should definitely be seeing an increase in submissions over the next few weeks (well, hopefully, at least). Thanks for reading! Also, the concert I went to on Friday was Styx, Foreigner and Kansas, and it was one hell of a show. If you don’t like that kind of music, that’s too bad .

The Weekly Recap (May 16th-22nd)
As promised, Rockstar has released a new patch for Red Dead Redemption to fix the invisibility glitch that hampered the multiplayer experience of the game. According to a Rockstar representative: “We have just deployed a fix that should address the issues some people have been experiencing in Red Dead Redemption online multiplayer. This fix should address a specific issue that was found where the player’s multiplayer avatar, their horse or their weapons would occasionally not be visible in multiplayer games as well as an issue that some players were experiencing where they would lose connection to the various multiplayer modes.” “If anyone still needs assistance, players should feel free to contact RDRsupport at rockstargames dot com and be sure to include their platform and online ID.” Well, that’s all for now guys, now back to the game.
