Borderlands 2 New Images and Info

Gearbox’s Boderlands 2 is already shaping up to look better than the first, which was an amazing game. New character classes, new environments, new and more diverse enemies, a fully upgraded weapon system to increase the 87 bazillion weapons, and more. These new screens look amazing, and I left them full size for those of you that want to add them to your desktop like I did. Also, hit the jump for a rather detailed game overview. Borderlands 2 furthers the distinct blending of First Person Shooter and Role Playing genres to create the true evolution of the Role Playing Shooter. Team up with up to three other players for four-player online goodness or go old-school with two-player split-screen couch sharing mayhem as you spend hours leveling up your character and equipping them with one of the millions of badass weapons. Borderlands 2 features a new visually stunning array of procedurally generated guns, shields, grenades, artifacts, enemies and more. Choose one of the four new character classes to be taken through a carefully crafted and connected story to all new and surprising environments across the living planet of Pandora. Make new friends, arm them to the teeth and fight alongside them on your relentless quest for revenge and redemption. Features: • Gunzerker Leads a Cast of All-New Characters and All-New Classes: Step into the role of the Gunzerker, whose highly deadly skills allow him to dual-wield any two weapons found in the game. Not only that, you will build on that skill to do more things with two guns than you ever imagined possible. Dual machine guns? Cool. Dual rocket launchers? Of course! Dual Sniper Rifles? Sure, if that’s your thing! Want to try other styles? More tactical perhaps? There are multiple classes to choose from! • Dynamic Co-op online, split-screen and LAN: Share your adventures with friends both online and via LAN. Borderlands 2 features a seamless system enabling you to drop in and drop out of a campaign without ever having to restart the game. On top of that you can even take your new gear from any game to any other! • World Connected Story: You will find yourself left for dead in the frozen tundra of Pandora as you begin your quest of revenge and redemption. Expose the evil surrounding the Hyperion Corporation and take on the perpetrator of a universe-wide grand deception — the nefarious Hyperion CEO, Handsome Jack. (Oh, also: he’s stolen credit for the opening of the Vault.) • New Badass Gun System: An entirely new take on the groundbreaking procedural system means millions upon millions of possible weapons. The variety and style of guns in Borderlands 2 is staggering, and you’ll see tons of new and innovative ways to engage foes on Pandora. Fire, electricity, corrosive acid, and much more will all be at your disposal as you fight your way through the Hyperion Corporation’s forces! • 87 Bazillion…Everything: In addition to the new gun system, you will lust after procedurally generated shields, grenades, Alien Artifacts, class mods and much, much more. And you thought the original Borderlands had a ton of loot! • Brand new environments on Pandora: Hunt through entirely brand new areas of Pandora that are more alive than ever! From the arctic tundra, through the dangerous grasslands, past the mysterious corrosive caverns to beyond, you’ll be surprised by the unpredictable world of Pandora at every turn! • Brand new enemies: A whole slew of new enemies are out there to kill you in Borderlands 2. Hulking, gorilla-like Bullymongs, vicious predatory Stalkers and the Hyperion mechanical army, run by Handsome Jack, are just some of the new enemies you will be facing off against on Pandora. New strategies will need to be created for every fight, as enemies now interact and aid each other to ensure you don’t get far in the world of Pandora. Source: Press Release

Is the PS Vita “a car wreck”?

I think it’s safe to say most of us are very excited about the (unfortunately delayed) PS Vita launch, but apparently that’s not how Lyle Hall and Matthew Seymour, developers at Heavy Iron Studios, feel. (on a side note, this studio is mostly responsible for adaptations from movies like Up, Wall-e, Incredibles and Ratatouille according to wikipedia ) These guys are really questioning the sales price of the product saying that “if people aren’t willing to pay $249 for a Nintendo 3DS why would they pay $299 for Vita?”. These guys believe mobile gaming is the future because “people don’t want to carry more than one thing in their pocket, that’s why Android and iPhone have done so well, they are the devices of choice, they offer multiple functions outside of gaming” Personally, I feel like he’s not talking about “hardcore gaming” and is mostly focusing on casual games, take this for example “The technology is sweet, I’m a huge fan of mobile technology, but I just don’t know there’s a market out there anymore for the hardware. I can’t see why you would want to put a device out that only does games”. What is the importance of the casual gamer in console sales numbers? That’s a question I feel would really help in this discussion, but I wonder if someone could even come up with such number. While I see the point he’s using, I’ll have to disagree because I don’t think people would use the PS Vita as a mobile phone even if it had the capacity to do so. It’s too big and awkward for that. Also, no other mobile device is capable of handling what the Vita will be able to. What do you guys think, is the Vita going to have a future similar to Nintendo’s 3DS or will it prevail in this time of multitasking? source

DICE Responds to Battlefield 3 Controversy

Battlefield 3 banner outside E3 2011. Photo by Paulfierce Here we have it. I have been a firm believer of retailer specific pre-order content since day one. I mean as a company why not? it extends your sales, your revenue, and not only that, it also garners you exclusives that no other retailer has. However there is such a trend now that publishers seem to abuse. The exclusivity of pre-order content per retailer. Looks like gamers are starting to wise up finally and are threatening to protest the Electornic Art’s upcoming Battlefield 3 game. Followers and gamers were outraged when EA announced that some of the games DLC will only be available specifically to certain retailers as pre-order incentives, and that most of us have to pay for the content. To set aside confusion Karl Magnus Troedsson, general manager of DICE, has posted a letter to gamers that all of the content from the Physical Warfare Pack DLC will be available to everyone for free later this year. Read the official response here.

Prince of Persia Blu-Ray Coming to US

The Prince of Persia trilogy has been on PSN for some time now. The European players have had the luxury of getting this on disc, as stated in EdEN’s post , for quite some time now. I have this ordered, and don’t know if many are aware that it is, in fact, being released in North America on 4-19-11. The titles can be purchased for $14.99 each (on PSN) or purchased on Blu-ray for $39.99. Screenshots below: Source: Gamestop
