It was the first system to have state-of-the-art graphics advancement, brought Blu-ray to households worldwide, and it also gave us record breaking games such as the Final Fantasy and Metal Gear Solid series. Below you will find a chart highlighting a couple of fun facts and also a timeline all the way to last years PlayStation Move peripheral. With the dawn of the NGP, who knows what Sony will give us at E3 2011 next week? One thing is certain; We’re growing up PlayStation! 15 years of entertainment going strong!

Full Restoration Of PlayStation Network Services Begins Today
Is it me, or is this a coincidence? The ongoing PlayStation Network outage has reached its 23rd day. With that comes the job openings at the Sony Headquarters in San Diego, Ca. Sony HQ is one of the buildings that sits in the area close to Sorrento Valley, 20 minutes north of downtown San Diego. Companies such as Qualcomm and Kodak rest in this valley. I, personally, have no job knowledge about the positions opening up for Sony, however, they do sound a little bit alarming and, at the same time, comforting. Positions such as Identity and Access Engineer, Data warehouse solutions architect, Server systems software architect, QA tester PlayStation Network, Software QA supervisor, and Network Operations Center manager have all emerged in the company’s job site. What does this all mean? Does it mean the positions are now open, or are they simply reinforcing their digital fortress with more man power? Sony has not been clear as of late on what they intend or are currently doing with this down time, so one has to assume that they are working nonstop in order to restore the network. Hopefully these positions are filled soon, and the company finds its way back up from below its misfortune. To see the rest of the positions, visit the official Sony Job site here.

Opinions stated in the article are solely those of the writer and do not necessarily reflect that of PS3Blog.net June 12, 2008. My first PS3. Do you remember your first? To love and to hold. Have you ever been in love? I have. To a machine. Not just a machine, but a PlayStation. Do you remember the day clearly? Your first PlayStation console? Whether you purchased it yourself or with the help of others, that day can never be erased from our memories. The first game I ever invested my time with was Metal Gear Solid. I was a freshman in college in Chicago. Winter break came along and I chose to stay in my dorm room. As my ex-girlfriend and her roommates went home for the winter, I stayed home with the company of Solid Snake and Sniper Wolf. A couple years later, I’m out of college. I have my first job and I had my sights on a PlayStation 2. First paycheck, I went to my local Toys ‘R’ Us to purchase my second love. So many memories we made. From my first 23-2 game in SOCOM 2, to the endless nights securely transporting convoy trucks safely in SOCOM 3, the amazing final fight with Solidus Snake, the clutch field goal that won it for you in Madden 2003, the drama that unfolded with Ocelot, Volgin, and the Boss; after going through those experiences, I knew, at that moment, I would always be a PlayStation fan. Through Sickness and in Health. Fast forward to June 12, 2008. It was a cloudy, cold Thursday morning. I found myself standing in front a building with blue and yellow sliding doors, eagerly awaiting for the moment they open. As time passed, more people joined me. Some young, some old, some still half asleep. The moment finally arrived, and the doors opened. A women dressed in a blue polo shirt and khaki pants directs us straight to the checkout counter. There, waiting just beyond the counter, just a few feet away, was my first ever PlayStation 3. We all have our favorite games, whether it be sports, action, adventure, or RPG. However, there’s one thing we have in common. We all have a lot of options when it comes to gaming. For some reason, nothing else can compare to the PlayStation 3. But not all relationships are perfect. There are times when I questioned my decisions. The internal clock error, the red blinking light, and now the outage. My confusion turned into fear, my fear resulted in frustration. I almost lost that feeling. In closing, I’d like to remind everyone that no matter where this PlayStation road will lead us, one thing will always be true. We are the devoted, the strong willed, the intelligent, the one of a kind, and lastly.. the strongest. PlayStation for life.

Geohot, a.k.a George Hotz has finally found some space to breathe. Both SONY and Hotz have come to an agreement on a settlement, with Hotz accepting a permanent injunction against his development activities on the PS3. Details after the jump: Sony Computer Entertainment America (“SCEA”) and George Hotz (“Hotz”) today announced the settlement of the lawsuit filed by SCEA against Hotz in federal court in San Francisco, California. The parties reached an agreement in principle on March 31, 2011. As part of the settlement, Hotz consented to a permanent injunction. Both parties expressed satisfaction that litigation had been quickly resolved. “Sony is glad to put this litigation behind us,” said Riley Russell, General Counsel for SCEA. “Our motivation for bringing this litigation was to protect our intellectual property and our consumers. We believe this settlement and the permanent injunction achieve this goal.” “It was never my intention to cause any users trouble or to make piracy easier,” said Hotz, I’m happy to have the litigation behind me.” Hotz was not involved in the recent attacks on Sony’s internet services and websites. In the action, SCEA accused Hotz of violating federal law by posting online information about the security system in the PlayStation 3 videogame console and software that SCEA claimed could be used to circumvent the security system in the console and allow the playing of pirated videogames. Hotz denies any wrongdoing on his part. Hotz’s motion to dismiss for lack of personal jurisdiction was still pending before the federal court in San Francisco but a preliminary injunction was issued requiring Hotz to take down the postings challenged by SCEA. “We want our consumers to be able to enjoy our devices and products in a safe and fun environment and we want to protect the hard work of the talented engineers, artists, musicians and game designers who make PlayStation games and support the PlayStation Network,” added Russell. “We appreciate Mr. Hotz’s willingness to address the legal issues involved in this case and work with us to quickly bring this matter to an early resolution.” Source: PlayStation Blog

Hackers threaten Sony directly
Well at least that is the current rumor running around since it has been established that George Hotz not only deleted information from his PC’s when he was issued a court order not to, but he also lied about having a PSN account in which Sony has discovered.
