David Williams stopped by the Sony Blog and shared some screens and info about the new Ghostbusters title landing tomorrow: In Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime, the story begins 4000 years ago with a strange cult mourning the death of Dumazu, an ancient demon of death and destruction. Fast forward to 1989, when museum curator Janosz Poha is sent to a mental institution following the events in Ghostbusters 2. There he meets Ismael, the self-proclaimed last member of the cult of Dumazu. Ismael seeks a Shard of the Relic of Nilhe, a mystic artifact that possesses the power to bring Dumazu the Destroyer back to life, and he tasks Janosz with obtaining it. Janosz’s reward: Dana Barrett. Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime for PS3 (PSN) Some years later, following Janosz’s release from the mental institution, a wave of unusual paranormal manifestations start appearing all over New York City. The Ghostbusters can’t handle all the heat with this latest outbreak, so they recruit a young group of paranormal studies enthusiasts to lend a hand. And that’s where you come in, guiding the rookie team in their first adventure to find the truth behind Ismael, the Relic of Nilhe, and Dumazu the Destroyer! One of the goals when writing the story was to keep true to the Ghostbusters universe. Making it funny, yet smart and sarcastic. To accomplish these goals we had the help of someone with some experience: Tom Waltz, scriptwriter of the IDW Ghostbusters comics. He transformed our storyline into an amazing comic sequence that flows between the levels to tell the player what is happening in NYC and to introduce them to the personalities of the new rookies. Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime for PS3 (PSN) This new chapter in the Ghostbusters story not only introduces the new rookie team, but links them to some of the classic series characters. Favorites such as Slimer and Stay Puft make an appearance as well, but the core of the story is focused on the first adventures of the rookie team dealing with a strange menace overcoming New York City. Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime comes to the PlayStation Store tomorrow, March 22nd as part of Spring Fever. Some Screens for you: Source: PlayStation.Blog

Ghostbusters Lands on PSN Tomorrow
Well the the new look of the Official PS3 Blog is here! For those that missed it, a while back it was mentioned by the Official Blog that they were sick and tired of looking like their EU counterparts ugly cousin. Today they have revealed the new look. I for one have to admit that it’s going to take some time getting used too. Sometimes there are tweaks here and there but it seems like they went all out. What are your thoughts?

Today at 05:46:23 (UTC)/12:46 AM (EST), Japan was hit with a magnitude 8.9 earthquake, creating factories, among other infrastructures, to temporarily shut down. According to the Kyodo news agency, Sony, who happens to be one of Japan’s mammoth exporters, had to shut down six of their factories as the earthquake caused fires and power failure in the northeast coast of the country. This earthquake will most certainly cause a humongous economic impact on Japan because of its damage to the factories. On top of the earthquake, a tsunami came rolling in from the coasts of Japan, furthering the damage to the nation’s coastline. Reportedly, a 33 feet high tsunami hit the port of Sendai. The official death toll, so far, is more than 1,000 people, Japanese media outlets are reporting. Other companies who have been identified to shut down their operations because of these natural disasters were Honda, Hokuriku Electric Co., JX Nippon Oil & Energy Corp., Cosmo Oil Co. and more. Seems like the man who played a major part in the release of the original PlayStation back in ’95 is no longer with SONY, according to IGN who received an official statement from SCEA. There was no specific reason given as to why Peter left the company, besides the regular corporate jargon. SONY did go on record to give him a lot of credit for being such a valuable key player in the success and growth of the PS3 and PSN. Source: IGN

According to wired.com , Sony has been awarded some more subpoenas in the case vs George Hotz. There is a few tidbits of new info as well. I will make one observation…Geohot has been amazingly quiet since his last outburst when Sony raided that German hackers house. I’m wondering if these new subpoena’s are making him weary or if his lawyers are telling him to keep quiet. -Federal Magistrate granted Sony the right to acquire the IP’s of anybody who visited Geohotz site from January 2009 to present as well as anyone who accessed the downloaded files. -Sony apparently won the subpoenas for data from YouTube, Twitter and Google as well as getting the data for all people who commented, rehosted, watched said info. -Sony prefers to to sue Hotz in New Jersey rather then San Francisco. -EFF thinks the subpoena’s are overly broad and inappropriate. -Sony seeking unspecified damages from Hotz.

Mark Cooke // Lead Systems Designer, Nihilistic Software stopped by the Sony Blog to share a new developer diary on the upcoming PlayStation Move Heroes. My son is excited for this and I must admit I am eager to give it a whirl, or whip. We’ve blended some of the familiar weapons, abilities, and character movements from the original games with a fresh new set of motion-controlled mechanics that you’ll only be able to find on the PlayStation Move. For example, one of our favorites in the buzzsaw disc, a new weapon that the heroes fling into space to collect crystals, powers-up and more. But it’s up to the player to steer and navigate the disc while in flight. It’s a joy to fly with the extreme 1:1 precision of the motion controller. And if you can’t wait until March 22 to get your hands on PlayStation Move Heroes, be sure to keep your eyes out for a single player demo early next month in the PlayStation Store. PlayStation Plus members will have access starting March 1. Source: PSBlog

In preparation for games such as Killzone 3 and SOCOM 4: U.S. Navy SEALs, SONY is releasing a new Bluetooth Headset. It’s not really any different then the one that is already out there. The one difference is that it is “urban camouflaged”. This is just another way of SONY giving people what they want!

Sony has a new PlayStation-Certified Device in development, and no, its NOT the recently announced Xperia Play phone. Rumours have been floating around about a tablet Sony was working on, but Engadget says they have new information, from two independent sources, stating that the tablet is currently in development. It, reportedly, will have a $599 price range for the WiFi-only version and it could be released as early as September. The weird wrap on the top is meant to shift the weight to the bottom of the device so it is easier to hold. It also allows the screen to be used as a touch keyboard when laid flat on a table. Features quoted after the jump. The tablet itself, we’re told, is 100 percent focused on Qriocity, Sony’s music, games, e-books, and videos on demand service that’s just been launched in Europe. It comes preloaded with Sony PS One games, a Bravia Media Remote, and yes, PlayStation integration Although the tablet looks like a hollow 9.4-inch capacitive touch panel sporting a 1,280 x 800 pixel resolution from the distance, the space between the the front and back wrapped panels is actually stuffed with a battery and circuitry including a Tegra 2 processor. As such, you won’t be hanging it from the towel rack. It also features both front- and rear-facing cameras as well as a USB-A port that plays host to USB thumb drives or media devices. The only physical buttons — volume and on / off — are located on the edge of each indented side. There’s also the possibility that the S1 will feature a “Q” (for Qriocity) button but that decision has not been finalized, according to one of our sources. Oh, and there’s an IR port built-in allowing you to control devices other than your Bravia TV. The front face is finished in a high-gloss black that sits flush with the display and continues in one unobstructed sweep to the back of the tablet where a subtle dot matrix texture is applied to enhance the grip. The underside is a matte-silver color creating a nice contrast. All materials, we’re told, feel very premium though it’s unclear if we’re talking plastic, aluminum, or something else.

It looks like Sony is about to bring the “ban-hammer,” but is first issuing a warning. “Consumers using circumvention devices or running unauthorized or pirated software will have access to the PlayStation Network and access to Qriocity services through PlayStation 3 system terminated permanently. To avoid this, consumers must immediately cease use and remove all circumvention devices and delete all unauthorized or pirated software from their PlayStation 3 systems.” We knew something like this was coming, but it’s great to see them announcing it before hand, so those that are truly just trying it out for “homebrew” don’t just immediately get banned. The official announcement was posted on the official PSblog by Jeff Rubenstein, and is reprinted here for your convenience: Today, Sony Computer Entertainment released the following statement: Notice: Unauthorized circumvention devices for the PlayStation 3 system have been recently released by hackers. These devices permit the use of unauthorized or pirated software. Use of such devices or software violates the terms of the “System Software License Agreement for the PlayStation 3 System” and the “Terms of Services and User Agreement” for the PlayStation Network/Qriocity and its Community Code of Conduct provisions. Violation of the System Software Licence Agreement for the PlayStation 3 System invalidates the consumer guarantee for that system. In addition, copying or playing pirated software is a violation of International Copyright Laws. Consumers using circumvention devices or running unauthorized or pirated software will have access to the PlayStation Network and access to Qriocity services through PlayStation 3 system terminated permanently. To avoid this, consumers must immediately cease use and remove all circumvention devices and delete all unauthorized or pirated software from their PlayStation 3 systems. What this means to you Circumvention devices and game piracy damage our industry and can potentially injure the online experience for you, our loyal PlayStation customers, via hacks and cheats. Many PlayStation.Blog readers have asked how we intend to deal with these incidents that they have been reading about in the gaming press, and this is our initial response. By identifying PlayStation 3 systems that breach our guidelines and terminating their ability to connect to PlayStation Network, we are protecting our business and preserving the honest gameplay experiences that you expect and deserve. Rest assured, this message does not apply to the overwhelming majority of our users who enjoy the world of entertainment PlayStation 3 has to offer without breaching the guidelines detailed above, and we urge you to continue doing so without fear. Sony Has Released an Official Statement Regarding PS3 Circumvention Devices and Pirated Software
Richard Ho the Associate Product Marketing Manager stopped by the Sony Blog and shared an in depth look at the upcoming Sharp Shooter for the PlayStation Move. Taking advantage of the PlayStation Move is an understatement. This thing is looking like a game changer. Seeming as there’s no classic Call of Duty auto aim in Killzone 3 or Socom 4 this is going to help those who have become accustomed to assisted aim. I’m most looking forward to using this with Time Crisis as the already released Sony Move Gun attachment is not the easiest set-up to play with. Having the Move button next to the trigger will also make RE5 playable! The Sharp Shooter retails for $39.99 and will be released Feb 22nd along with Killzone 3 making it the must have peripheral.
