L.A Noire officially delayed into 2011

With a post-war backdrop of corruption, drugs and jazz, Rockstar has claimed it will "truly blend cinema and gaming". Rockstar’s much-anticipated L.A Noire definitely won’t see the light of day until January 2011 at the earliest. Parent Take Two said in its Q3 investor earnings call last night that the title would be out in the first half of calendar year 2011. That’s any time between January 1 and June 31. Take Two CEO Ben Feder said: “If a title needs more time, it needs more time – and we’re willing to give it. I will say about L.A. Noire that as I look around competitively at the marketplace, there is nothing else quite like it in terms of the gameplay and the technology behind it. We want to make sure we get it absolutely right.”

Autumn / Winter 2010 – A Busy Period For Buying Games?

For me, Autumn and Winter are always a busy period when it comes to purchasing games. Each year, October sees the release of FIFA and Pro Evolution Soccer. Late October / Early November sees the COD franchise getting unleashed with Battlefield getting some major DLC in December with the Vietnam pack being released. However, this year, my trouser pocket is getting tortured with purchases of PlayStation Move, Sports Champions, Tiger Woods, Start The Party, Formula 1 2010 and GT5!  I’m sure somewhere in between buying all of these games, there will be some snacking, purchasing more games via PSN, spending time with the family and actually doing some work. So – from me to you. Which purchases are high up on your shopping list? Apart from the games listed above, there are many more being released, such as: Battelfield: Bad Company 2 Ultimate Edition, Spiderman Shattered Dimensions, R.U.S.E, Deathspank 2, Dead Rising 2 and many more. How much money do you think you’ll be spending on your beloved console before the year is out?

Eric Gordon Leads Team USA over Greece

The casual NBA fan has no idea who Eric Gordon is — mostly due to the fact that he plays for the Los Angeles Clippers. However, that may be changing. Eric Gordon is making a name for himself on Team USA. On Wednesday, Gordon led past Greece by pouring in 18 points in only 21 minutes, while shooting 6-for-11 from the field and 4-for-7 from three-point land. Thanks to Gordon’s strong play, Team USA beat Greece by a final score of 87-59. Kevin Durant had 15 points and seven rebounds. Derrick Rose (13) and Kevin Love (10) were the other Americans in double figures. Kostas Tsartsaris led the way for Greece with 24 points. Unfortunately for Tsartsaris, he didn’t get any help. No other player on Greece scored more than eight points and while Tsartsaris was 9-for-12 from the field, the rest of the team was 11-for-37. No the games will begin to count for Team USA. Though this American squad is small and inexperienced, they have made great strides in recent weeks and look to be a powerful favorite heading into the basketball World Championship. Here’s a video of Eric Gordon and Team USA as they took down Greece: Post from: EveryJoe

Yao Ming Cleared – Injury Update

Some basketball experts thought that Yao Ming would never play in the NBA again after suffering yet another foot injury. Those worries seem to be off-base after the Houston Rockets have cleared their Chinese center to resume basketball-related activities. The Rockets now believe that Yao will be able to start the regular season on the active roster. Said Yao: “I am very excited. I am just looking forward to playing a great season. I think I can count on my foot now.” In the 2008-09 season, Yao was able to play in 77 regular season games and average 19.7 points and 9.9 rebounds per game. However, the 7-foot-5 center hurt his foot in the playoffs and missed the entire 2009-10 campaign. The surgery to fix his foot was complicated and there was no guarantee that he’d ever fully recover. “I’m probably a little bit away from game shape,” admitted Yao. “The good news is we still have one month until training camp, and two months to the season.” Yao Ming can put down the sport coat (Image: Zuma Press) Post from: EveryJoe

Video: Shaq Beats Charles Barkley at Golf

When you think about Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley, you envision a classic duel on the hardwood between two of the best bigmen in the history of the NBA. What you don’t think about? Golf. But in the latest episode of “Shaq vs.”, Shaquille O’Neal and Charles Barkley decided to compete on the golf course. Barkley recently trained with Hank Haney, the former swing coach of Tiger Woods, on “The Hank Haney Project” — a show on the Golf Channel — so he’s obviously not new to the game. In fact, now that he’s retired from the NBA, you can either find the Chuckster gambling or playing golf. Shaq, being the ever-confident athlete he is, made fun of Barkley’s swing and challenged him to a round of golf. In the “Shaq VS.” episode, the two giants settled their differences with golf clubs in hand. At the end of the episode, Shaq had to make a put to beat Charles Barkley — and he did! Tiger Woods is Single

Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegren have officially completed their divorce. Once Elin found out about Tiger’s cheating, she left and never came back. As for Tiger, he’s now single once again. That said, I’m going to take a wild guess and say that Tiger is going to lay low for a couple months. Actually, make that a couple years. Tiger and Elin released a short statement through their lawyers: “We are sad that our marriage is over and we wish each other the very best for the future.” According to various reports, Elin got about $750 million in the divorce. For her, marrying Tiger turned out to be a rather good investment. Since the sex scandal, Tiger’s golf game has really suffered. He hasn’t won anything and he looks like a shadow of his former self. It’ll be interesting to see if Tiger’s game improves or continues to decline now that he’s single. Next time, Tiger, think about a pre-nup. Also, be more careful about sand traps. Darrelle Revis and Jets Agree to New Deal

Darrelle Revis and the New York Jets have agreed to a new deal that will be announced on Wednesday. Considering that Revis is regarded as one of the top five defensive players in the NFL, this is huge news for the Jets and their fans. The source of this news is Tim Cowlishaw’s Twitter . The Jets were a great defensive team last year, with a lot of the credit going to Revis. He’s a cover corner who can lock up the opponent’s best wide receiver with minimal help. That ability allowed the Jets to send a lot of pressure at the quarterback and send double-teams to the other side of the field. While there are no details of Revis’s deal, expect him to become one of the highest paid defensive players in the league. Speaking of the Jets, Nick Mangold and the team are also getting close to a long-term extension. The All-Pro center will reportedly become the highest paid center in the NFL. Video: Nenad Krstic Throws Chair During Brawl

Nowadays, we don’t see many basketball brawls. But in this video, you can watch a brawl between the national team for Serbia and the national team for Greece. Ironically, the two teams were playing a “friendly” match in preparation for the World Championships. You can watch the basketball brawl video at the end of this entry. The most shocking part of the video is when Nenad Krstic attempts to throw a chair at Sofoklis Schortsanitis. Kristic, who plays with the Oklahoma City Thunder, missed Schortsanitis, who signed a contract to play with the Los Angeles Clippers, and hit Ioannis Bourousis — causing blood to start pouring down Bourousis’s face. Following the brawl between Serbia and Greece, the game was canceled and both teams were told to get out of the arena. The game was played in Greece and there were about five thousand fans in the stands. After the game, Krstic was actually arrested by local police. He was later let go but he may face charges down the line. While Krstic is unlikely to face punishment from the NBA, he may be suspended by FIBA. Brett Favre the Drama Queen

First, Brett Favre was coming back. Then, Brett Favre retired yet again. Now? To the surprise of few, Brett Favre appears to be coming back to the Minnesota Vikings … officially this time. And, no, it’s not a coincidence that he’s coming back at almost the exact same time he did last season. By being a drama queen, Favre was able to avoid training camp altogether. Ryan Longwell, the kicker for the Vikings, told ESPN in a text message that Favre is indeed returning. While Favre may pull another drama queen move or two before he joins the team, expect him to report within the next week to ten days. To get ready for the regular season, Favre will play in a few preseason games. He’s turning 41 in October so a limited work load at this point of the year makes sense. The goal for Minnesota is to keep him healthy for the 16 regular season games and a run in the postseason. Next year, Favre will probably be doing the same drama queen antics. Don’t be one of the few who still fall for it. Brett Favre: Always the Drama Queen (Image: Zuma Press) Post from: EveryJoe
