Tune in to this week to catch Ace, FooBear, and I as we talk about news regarding most things PlayStation. GameStop Now Buying iOS Devices

GameStop quietly started taking in iOS device’s after its trade show in Las Vegas last week. The company is also planning a gaming tablet powered by GameStop. Game stop has chosen Android to power its gaming tablet. “There’s not a lot of tablet/android based games for the consumer that are designed to use an external controller,” Bartel said. “But our thought is that the tablet is a great immersive gaming device so it’s hard for us to envision how that tablet will really function as such without some sort of controller. We’ve created a controller that we’re testing to really allow for immersive gameplay. It’s hard to imagine how to stream a game – let’s say Modern Warfare 3 – onto a tablet and then play it with your finger.” First games to be released are your typical Angry birds and other small touch games. Now word on when though. So if you have an iPhone or the now outdated Apple iPad, you have a place to trade them in. Source: The Escapist

Syndicate Images Leaked!

Young PS3Blog.net members: Syndicate is a classic DOS real-time tactical game from Bullfrog Productions. It was created in 1993 by Sean Cooper as the first title in the Syndicate series. An expansion pack, Syndicate: American Revolt, and a sequel, Syndicate Wars, have also been released. The original game and expansion pack were re-released together in 1996 as Syndicate Plus. We have been hearing rumors of a remake since 2008 , when Swedish game developer Starbreeze (Chronicles of Riddick) confirmed that it had abandoned its other project to focus on one game. Well, that’s about to change! A member of NeoGAF posted new info about the game description together with some screenshots, which (according to NeoGAF) will probably be revealed next week. Syndicate Game description Syndicate is the re-imagination of a cult classic franchise from 1993 – a unique action shooter set in a not too distant future, where Business is War. 2069 – No longer governed by politicians, the developed world is divided up into regions controlled by megacorporations known as Syndicates. These Syndicates have revolutionized how the consumer interacts with the digital world. No longer does the consumer require a device to access the world’s data and control their technology, they can do this at the blink of an eye via neural chip implant. Civilians flocked to be “chipped” and enjoy all that their selected Syndicate has to offer; housing, medical, banking, insurance, education, entertainment and jobs. One complete package. One complete lifestyle. In return, the Syndicates gained unprecedented insights, and control, over the individual and their behaviour. With little governmental oversight, business has become war. The Syndicates will stop at nothing for ultimate market dominance. At the front line of this war are the Agents, the Syndicate’s bio-engineered and chip-augmented enforcers. They can breach anything in the wired world including their enemies, their weapons and the environment that surrounds them, making them the most efficient and deadly technological weapons in the world. Take on the role of Miles Kilo, Eurocorp’s latest prototype agent, and embark on a brutal action adventure of corruption and revenge. • Chip Enhanced Gameplay: Slow down time, see through walls, and breach your enemy and everything digital in the world with Dart vision – A neural DART6 chip implant that allows you to interface directly with the Dataverse. • 4-Player Online Co-op: Assemble your Syndicate for global domination. A 4-player, online co-op experience like no other, with chip enhanced gameplay and 9 missions re-imagined from the original Syndicate. • Visceral FPS Experience: Utilize an upgradable arsenal of futuristic weapons, armor and gear to annihilate your enemies and harvest their chip technology for personal advancement and sinister corporate greed. • Sci-Fi Fiction: Immerse yourself in the world of Syndicate 2069, with a world-class sci-fi story experience, written by bestselling author Richard Morgan. I leave with some Leaked screens of “what appears to be Syndicate Boxart and Gameplay footage.” Expect more news of Syndicate next week, possibly we will be able to confirm if the game will launch as a PC exclusive, or make a debut on other consoles.

Why The Walking Dead Is My Most Anticipated Zombie Game

The number of video games featuring undead enemies is becoming as common place as TV shows and movies starring vampires. Eradicating zombies became popular with Capcom’s Resident Evil games, but as that series moves away from the traditional brain dead opponents in favor for the “infected”; it’s been up to other titles to share their take on the zombie apocalypse. Dead Rising, Dead Island, Dead Nation, Yakuza of The End, and now, Lollipop Chainsaw, all put gamers in the hands of protagonists more than capable of defeating zombies with their eyes closed. Sadly, just like Resident Evil, all of those games lack the one element I’ve been looking for in a zombie oriented action game, and that’s the scare factor . Fortunately, Telltale Games’ upcoming episodic game, based on Robert Kirkman’s graphic novel “The Walking Dead”, seems to fit the bill in that department and more. Though little is known about the The Walking Dead game right now, according to previews, gamers will play the role of average citizens faced with the horrible circumstances of a world crippled by the zombie outbreak. The human element the The Walking Dead will offer separates it from the crowded pack of zombie games, and that’s what appeals to me. As far as playable characters go, in the first episode of The Walking Dead, gamers won’t be in control of the usual individuals armed to the teeth with enough weaponry to level a small city. Instead, we can expect to play the part of a criminal and a young girl as they try to find other survivors and seek shelter from the apocalypse. One of the features in the The Walking Dead won’t be about simply choosing which firearm will be best to use against your opponents. Rather, players will be faced with making life or death conscious choices. Choices in which one will have to decide who, amongst said friends, will live and who is going to become zombie food. The fact that I’m a big fan of the comic and the TV series is another reason why I’m looking forward to The Walking Dead. However, if you’re looking for a new approach to a played out video game setting, then knowledge of the series the game is based on isn’t required, but it helps. So far, compared to other zombie titles releasing this year and beyond, The Walking Dead is shaping up to be the kind of horror game I’ve been waiting a very long time for.

The List

It had been quite a while since we lived to experience a very soon to be expensive, tremendously over-hyped, and overall, achievable year. We had a break down along the way, but the PlayStation wagon kept on moving forward, with what is soon to be the biggest fall releases in history. I am talking big names people. Great sequels and centuries of video games development. This is not a list of what I am personally looking forward to this fall. This is the list you will look back upon and think, yeah, I remember spending my entire paycheck in the local game store that year. Here is the list of the most anticipated retail titles this fall, arranged by release date. Some of these might include some spoilers, so read at your own discretion! Remember to add any I missed in the comment section for future reference… Resistance 3 (Sep. 6th 2011) The story takes place 4 years after the events of Resistance 2 where 99% of humans are either dead or turned into Chimera. We will follow the path of Joseph Capelli (our protagonist) on his journey to New York City to help Dr. Malicov (stick it one more time) to the occupying Chimeran Force! Two awesome titles set for Oct. 4th 2011! Twisted Metal The longest running series in PlayStation history returns with the 8th game in the series, simply titled Twisted Metal. Players will take part in the battle of four factions for control, and the prize of one wish fulfilled by Calypso (the host of this blood path contest). The game will feature 16 players on PSN battling in a variety of game modes. Rage Id software upcoming shooter set tale in the year 2038. Asteroid strikes and destroys all civilizations on the planet. The remaining survivors form settlements around water supplies and maintain distance from other hostile factions whom inhibit the surface. You will take part as a member of the Eden Project. A (failed) project in which hundreds of pods containing individuals with outstanding abilities are sealed underground in a plan to rebuild the earth. You will be forced to head to the surface in hunt for food, water and most importantly … Allies! Batman: Arkham City (Oct. 18th 2011) Based on DC Comics’ Batman, this sequel to the very successful stealth action-adventure will have big shoes to fill. The story will take place one year after the events of Arkham Asylum and will feature different characters from Batman’s universe. The story will revolve around the new mayor of Gotham City, Quincy Sharp, who, after being incapable of containing the large amount of inmates in city prisons, decides to let them loose in a well-guarded, by private military contractors, part of Gotham he calls Arkham City. Battlefield 3 (Oct. 25th 2011) The story of the single player campaign will take part in the year 2014. You will take on the role of two main characters. The first is Staff Sergeant Black, leader of a 5 man squad team on a mission to locate and, hopefully, return a second missing squad investigating a possible chemical weapons site along the Iraq-Iran border. The second playable character is Marine Sgt. Miller during a tank battle near Tehran. Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception (Nov. 1st 2011)

Comic-Con Recap: Crazy Games, Crazy Times!

I should feel blessed to be close to such major events that happen in and around the video game industry. What most people don’t know is that the San Diego Comic-Con is a major hub for announcements and reveals. Most people think this is just a nerd convention where some overweight stereotype dresses up in a costume in the middle of the southern California summer. They are wrong my friends. Comic-Con has something for everyone. Video Game wise, Capcom announced Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3, Naughty Dog and Sony brought the cast of Uncharted 3 to discuss the game, Batman: Arkham City was being promoted everywhere during the convention, and last but not the least, Hideo Kojima himself making his 3rd appearance to promote the upcoming HD re-release of his famous games. Frank Tieri signing Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 poster. Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3 It started off innocently enough. I get a press release from Capcom with assets and videos on July 20th. I arrive at the convention that night to see that they had a couple of stations running the build with the just announced characters, Ghost Rider, Strider, Hawkeye, and that red dragon thing. All week they had tournaments running and giving away promo posters for the game. Ryota Niitsuma the producer of MvC3 was on hand a long with Frank Tieri signing posters. Uncharted 3 Nolan North, Emily Rose, and Richard McGonagle were on hand to discuss Uncharted 3. These panels are usually the best places where you can talk to them face to face and ask question. Nolan North has announced that he is working on a book called Drake’s Journal, which will be kind of a behind-the-scenes look of the making of Uncharted 3. They also showed a very funny clip of them doing this motion capture and sound capture, which made everyone laugh. The good folks at Sony also provided badge holders with these awesome one of a kind T-Shirts and voucher codes for those who were lucky enough to get them. Sony partnered with ESC toys to bring you these awesome vinyl figures . Here are a couple of the Uncharted swag I managed to get. Poster designed by Adam Hughes. If you don’t know who that is, well you better Google him because this guy is considered by many as one of the best cover artist of all time. The poster kinda reminds you of Indiana Jones. Metal Gear Solid Hideo Kojima, along with Yoji Shinkawa and Yumi Kikuchi, was on hand to greet fans and sign items during the event. The Konami booth featured some items from the Konami Store in Japan and to my dismay, I missed out on these awesome coffee mugs that had the famous red exclamation point printed on the bottom of the mug. They were selling them for $15. Sold out in a matter of hours. I did, however, manage win one of the prizes they were raffling to the attendees of the signing. I’ll let the picture speak for itself. Check out Konami’s official facebook page for more information about the signing. Kojima Answers my Question about Metal Gear Solid RISING. I also have a special treat to one of our readers, he asked me if I can ask Kojima about Metal Gear Solid RISING and Mr. Kojima did not disappoint. The moderator of the event asked the audience if we have any questions for Mr. Kojima and I yelled out WHEN IS METAL GEAR SOLID RISING COMING OUT!? and he answers me in this video..
