A story about a boy, a fairy doll and the boy’s quest to revive his recently deceased mother. From the minds of Level-5 and studio Ghibli , comes this role-playing magical adventure. Ni No Kuni (or The Another World) was first announced in the Japanese publication Famitsu in September 2008 for the Nintendo DS. Later in 2010, it was revealed that the game was in development for the PlayStation 3 and a world premier trailer of “Ninokuni: Shiroki Seihai no Joou” (Queen of the White Ashes) was shown in TGS 2010. Many English-speaking players were wondering if this will be another Japanese import, but wonder no more … Level-5 president Akihiro Hino confirmed that an English version of the game is in production for an early 2012 release in North America, exclusively for PlayStation 3. I leave you with some gameplay footage from TGS 2011 … Here is a second Gameplay video to demonstrate the game’s “Final Fantasy/Pokemon” battles!

At Tokyo Game Show this year, the guys behind the Ace Combat games have released a new trailer for Assault Horizon, featuring some multiplayer combat, as well as a few customization options, including the ability to change the color of your aircraft (like that ridiculous purple fighter in the trailer). This game will be a hell of a lot of fun for our game nights.

The WWE Smackdown and Smackdown vs Raw games have always had some of the most open character creation in gaming (with a host of other ever-evolving creation types). This has even expanded beyond Create-a-Superstar to things like Create a Taunt (which, oddly enough, hasn’t been around for a while), Create a Finisher, heck, even Create a Storyline. But a couple things has been missing that could really help flesh out the whole creation process. Titantron videos have always been pretty limited to what the game included, or, as in SVR 2011, a ‘highlight reel’ created by replays from a single match. With the release of WWE ’12, the next title in THQ’s WWE franchise, that seems to have changed, as intro videos seem that much more interactive (as you can see from the trailer above). As to how they got other background videos to run with it, I am not sure if that’s from stock footage they have included with the game or if you’re allowed to upload your own, but it’s still great to see more options (I’ll shoot them an email for clarification). Another requested feature, THQ has also included Create an Arena. This allows you to design things from ringside barriers, to rope color, to ring aprons, to the lighting (and probably more). A good example from the trailer is the NWO/WCW ring. This would go great with Create a PPV, with a bunch of downloaded superstars from the ’90s, trying to recreate what you might see on Raw is War and Warzone or something. Yeah, I can be nerdy like that. The game releases on November 22nd.

We have all been waiting for this moment to come and finally, the first trailer to the long awaited Max Payne sequel was released by Rockstar Games . As a fan of the game, and a São Paulo inhabitant, I must say the trailer not only didn’t disappoint me, but it hooked me from the very first line and took me back to the incredible story of the unluckiest video game protagonist I can think of. Everything looks good and, as expected, Max’s voice is still setting the dark tone for the game. Did I mention this trailer is made up entirely from in-game footage?

Max Payne 3 – First Trailer Released
Greetings readers. Like it or not, the Call of Duty series is here to stay, and you’d be lying to yourself if you never heard of this game franchise. In a push to create hype and beat down its competitors, Activision along with sponsors such as Mountain Dew, Gunnar optics, Doritos, and another video game company console unleashed the Call of Duty XP event in Los Angeles. The event was held in a hanger where Howard Hughes built the Spruce Goose. The hanger was transformed into a gaming arena with each areas serving up different modes, game play, and giving the general public who paid the $150 fee a taste of whats to come in MW3. Me and Oly had a chance to attend this event and it sure did not disappoint. Personally, I prefer 3rd person shooters, however there is just something about the COD series that you cant help but notice. Each area of play was comprised of stations. Every time a participant completes or plays in one of the areas, he or she is rewarded with a patch. There were 12 patches to collect, and 2 patches that were exclusively obtained only by VIP wristband holders. The atmosphere of the place was filled with hardcore gamers. There was even a retail store area where you could purchase a blank shirt and have your PSN name screen printed on the back. VIP’s were treated with an open bar, and complimentary drinks and food. The best part of the event were the gift bags. For the $150 admission you basically get a free hardened copy of the game upon release. So the $100 already pays for itself there. Now for those of you who thought you can get away with getting one for your friend, guess what… You couldn’t. Each admission wristband were scanned upon giving you the gift bag so if you try to get another, you automatically get rejected. The gift bag included a limited edition Modern Warfare 3 Mountain Dew can, a couple of sponsor coupons, and silver tin. Inside the tin was a voucher with the redemption code to redeem your free hardened edition copy of the game, a thank you note from Activision, and woven patch from the event. Oly and I did not participate in the outdoor activies. The outdoor activities included a 100 yard zipline, paintball in the “scrapyard” map, test driving a Jeep, and “the pit” course recreated. Overall I had an awesome experience and they got me thinking about MW3 and wanting to tell everyone about it. Kudos to Activion for a job well done.

After some really weird screenshots that left most of us wondering what is this game all about, it’s now time for the Debut Trailer, which might leave us with even more questions. Well, still no word on why she has a head attached to her leg apparently; and what is this secret they’re talking about? I’ll tell you, this trailer left me intrigued and the soundtrack really pleased me. Sex, Blood and Rock & Roll? Count me in!
