Tosh had also scheduled one for the 8th , as well as the recap of that event. Tosh had also scheduled a game day for last Saturday, which I happened to miss as well. And, again, Oly did an impromptu game night with Call of Duty: Black Ops on Saturday as well. With that said, I also created a new group for GT5 Race Days , which I will use for people to discuss what kind of races we should do, track previews, and scheduled events. I’m aiming for it to be the most in-depth game night community on the blog!

The Weekly Recap (October 31st – November 6th)

This Week This week, there wasn’t as much news as before. That doesn’t mean that the news we did get wasn’t any good, though. As always, I definitely suggest reading through the tabs so you’re up to date on the stuff we posted over the course of the week. The Weekly Recap (October 31st – November 6th)

The Weekly Recap (August 22nd-28th)

This Week I’m finally integrating back into the PS3Blog.net society here. On time, and ready to go this week! This week’s highlights include the release of MotorStorm 3D rift and the Joe Danger ‘People’s Patch’. Sony is already trying to find ways to stop the JailBreak from spreading. Sakinah left her commentary for her picks of the best of Gamescom, and Eddie dominated this week with his gripping retelling of his experience talking with the Sony reps. Guerilla Games let out some more info on multiplayer. Sony (at least in Europe) will depend more on word-of-mouth to garner sales of the Move, while also mentioning that we should expect an optical drive in the PS4. PlayStation protection plan is available through purchase in the store, and PS+ subscribers get a discount. Rockstar finally announced the release date of the next RDR DLC, and Gran Turismo 5 has a 10GB optional install (!!). We have three reviews, Madden NFL 11, Shank, and Mafia II for everyone to check out as well. Be sure to check out all the videos we have available as well, including 14 minutes of SOCOM 4 and InFamous 2 gameplay featuring the old Cole. Community News Nothing new in the Community, feature-wise anyway. We did ramp up our Social Networking side of things at least, with Tosh and I running the facebook page, and Luke running the Twitter feed. I did a bit of work on the facebook page, preparing for that Move giveaway and such. Remember, you have to both be a member here and a fan on the page in order to qualify for the giveaway. Co-writers can now access the private Co-Writers Group as a drop down under the ‘Post News’ link at the top (which is only visible to people with the permissions). It’s always got important information and stuff, and the feature was added because of it, to make access much quicker. Tosh managed to get a beta key for Dead Nation , with an overwhelming response from the Community (47 comments total). Nash managed to win , but Bizarro Nash tried to steal the code from him. Henceforth, Bizarro Nash has been permanently banned, so keep that in mind if any of you tries to post as another member We also have the facebook Move giveaway running. Be sure to join the page here if you haven’t already. If you’re not a member, and the Move Giveaway tab doesn’t come up right away, be sure to read through that so you know what you will have to do to be eligible for the contest. Currently, there are only a little over 40 eligible people (and a lot of them still need to get active on the site to build up the points). Poll Results Since I have the ability to create polls now, I might be dropping this tab from the recap in order to do separate Poll posts every other week, using the Google gadget. Anyway, the bi-weekly question this time asks if you buy Collector’s Editions for games, so be sure to vote if you haven’t already. You get 5 points for doing so! Thank You Thanks for reading! At least I got it up in time this week . That’s 2 in a row so far! Sorry I missed the other Weeklies again. Time is just going by way too fast for me to keep up!

Some Cool Game-Based Movie Trailers

These are all fake, and created by YouTube user bloodrunsclear. The above is for Red Dead Redemption (and I think he did an awesome job with it), using scenes from multiple movies and mashing them together. He’s got a whole collection of them, too, so be sure to check out his page ! There are so many, I didn’t know which ones to put up. A few more after the jump (I put the Heavy Rain one up top, since it was done VERY well).

The Weekly Recap (July 25th-31st)

This Week I’d say this week was a pretty average week. No huge announcements or anything, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t anything worth reading, either. For starters, you can check out Trev’s review of Blur . Beyond that, some of the other highlights include the Battlefield 3 beta being included with the upcoming Medal of Honor Limited Edition . ModNation Racers will be receiving a much needed patch this week. With the release of Firmware 3.41 , people are reporting some hard drive installation issues . There are a few videos to check out as well, including DC Universe Online and DiRT 3 . Dead Fantasy , which is a short film of sorts, has also released parts 3-5 . You may also enjoy reading Sakinah ’s take on Sucker Punch listening to fans . Be sure to check out the entire recap, though, as there is always a bit I don’t touch upon in this section. Community News There’s a few new things this week. For starters, you can now get 5 points for voting in the polls! Of course, you must be registered and logged in for the points to count. While we’re on the topic of points, double points are still going on for another week, when posting in the forums. Feature-wise, the only thing I know about that might be new this week is the links to the “Filed Under” archives on the bottom of each post. Contests were quite big this week, as Oly had a giveaway for Spartacus Blood and Sand motion comics . I’m not sure, but he may still have some left. As mentioned int he previous recap, Oly had also won the 20,000th comment in the live chat . The Weekly Recap Anniversary Giveaway ended Saturday night, and the winners were as follows: Sinlock – $50 PSN Gift Card Oly1Kenobi – PS3Blog.net t-shirt Adam T – Refund plus 500 points Congratulations guys! As for upcoming contests, Oly may be giving away some t-shirts himself, as mentioned in the Live Chat (I’m telling you, if you haven’t registered, you’re missing quite a bit!). 25 Articles // 3 QuickNews Contributor of the Week Ace – 6 Entries QuickNews Contributor of the Week Oly1Kenobi – 2 Entries Most Liked Oly1Kenobi – Marvel’s Little Big Planet Costume Pack 3 Costumes Revealed – 6 Likes Most Comments UbeRamza – No Move support for Resident Evil 5 – 12 Comments Gaming News PS3 3 Million Sales Behind Microsoft’s XBox 360 Sakinah – July 29th Earthworm Jim HD Next Week Jay – July 29th Boba Fett Revealed to be in Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II Oly1Kenobi – July 29th Battlefield 3 Beta Coming! And finally, the 31st had the Prize Fight finals , which I missed because I currently don’t have possession of the game (my brother’s friend is borrowing it and I didn’t even know it). Poll Results No poll results this week, but you can currently vote on the most overlooked games in recent years. Plus, if you register and vote, you get 5 points added to your tally! Thank You Thank you for reading this week’s Weekly Recap. Remember, any input or ideas are welcomed! I’m always willing to try new things to get people to read this or even just participate in the Community!

The Weekly Recap (July 18th-24th)

This Week Thanks go out to Tosh for compiling the news from last week. Been very busy lately, but I should have some time for other stuff now that most of the things that used up my time are now finally slowing down. Anyway, there was quite a bit of news to cover actually. Oddworld seems to be making a return . Tarsier Studios is now First Party . Hip Hop Gamer did an awesome interview with Anton Mikhailov about the Move, and motion gaming in general. Rockstar will soon be targeting cheaters . And, there are a ton of gameplay videos last week, so go and read the Gaming News tab for those. One of the cooler ones is time passage in Red Dead Redemption . Pretty cool stuff and gives you a good idea of progression of time in the game and what changes around you. Community News OK, there was quite a bit of Community news last week. For one, you can earn double points for the rest of the month simply by posting in the forums ! And in case you might have missed it, Oly was at Comic-Con this year and did some live blogging so be sure to check that out, too. Tosh has compiled a list of Twitter accounts of different members and staff. There is also a Twitter widget on the site, which can be seen at the bottom of the side bar on the community pages . Another cool thing you can use is the ability to call a number and leave a voicemail . Given the interest in starting a podcast, this could be a cool feature to use to get some shout outs or what have you aired on the podcast. Hopefully we can manage to get one going, because that would be very cool. Tosh ran a giveaway for the 20,000th comment , and the winner was Oly . Congrats! Beyond that, the Weekly Recap Giveaway is still going on. I will begin reviewing entries this week to make sure entrants have done the qualifying steps. I will PM those who did not complete one of the two tasks. 24 Articles // 3 QuickNews Contributor of the Week Sakinah – 5 Entries QuickNews Contributor of the Week Tosh – 2 Entries Most Liked Trev – FIFA Rage Quitters – 4 Likes Most Comments Sakinah – My Motion Tech Is Better Than Yours! – 16 Comments Gaming News Just Add Water and You Might Get… Oddworld! Thank You Again, thanks for reading. Hopefully this will be the last time I need to do one recap after the other . Stay tuned for all upcoming recaps, which will hopefully be on time now.

The Weekly Recap (July 18th-24th)

The Weekly Recap (July 11th-17th)

This Week Quite a bit late with this one, for sure. Had some personal stuff going on for a while (health and vehicle related) so I had been pre-occupied with that and haven’t really been able to come on here and post much of anything. All that has finally been taken care of, though, so I’m definitely in better spirits now (that, and the Senate finally passed the much-needed Unemployment Extension). So what’s new for this week? Sakinah let us know that Hello Games broke even on release day with their title Joe Danger , which is a great title, by the way (hopefully this means more awesome games from them in the future). Darrin showed us the numbers for June . The Hulu+ service is available in preview form for PS+ subscribers . James Bond seems to be making a return , and the announcement of the title, Blood Stone , even has a debut trailer . There are a few pieces of other news as well, so be sure to check out the entirety of the recap and see what you may have missed. I’d go a little more in-depth here, but seeing as I have yet another Recap to write after this one, I need to manage my time . Community News From what I can gather, we didn’t really have much news in the Community a couple weeks ago. Doesn’t mean it wasn’t very active, though. We still had a number of posts come in. Tosh did manage to organize the top menu more, though. It makes navigation of some of the site’s pages easier and also better labeled the different link across the top to make a little more sense. There’s a new Group Forums Directory that now allows you to create new group forum topics from that page rather than having to navigate to each individual group separately. Keep in mind, not all groups have forums, so you may not be able to post a topic in a few of them. You can also check out a new Help Video on how to Favorite all the different things (news posts, topics, etc) on the site. If you aren’t a member, the contests should be enough to make you want to register! Not only that, if you’re logged in, you can join in on the Live Chat (which is always busy, save for late nights) and there are always secret contests being held there. Currently, the biggest contest we have going on ends in just a few days. If you haven’t already, you can read about the contest here . Given that fact, you can read the recap for the 07/10 Game Night here . There was also a scheduled Game Night for the 17th . Hopefully, I can get back into the swing of things and get back online with you guys… Poll Results Due to Google’s Interactive Pie Chart gadget not working right, I’ll have to do this the old fashioned way, but here are the previous poll’s results: Will you be purchasing the Move? Yes – 26 Votes 33% of all votes Wait for the games – 20 Votes 25% of all votes No – 12 Votes 15% of all votes Maybe – 8 Votes 10% of all votes When it’s cheaper – 8 Votes 10% of all votes As soon as possible – 6 Votes 8% of all votes Total Votes: 80 Thank You Thank you for your patience. I still got one more recap coming today, which will be for last week, so I’ll finally be caught up with those again.

The Weekly Recap (July 11th-17th)

The Weekly Recap (June 20th-26th)

This Week So, no surprise here, there was a little bit of a drop off in activity since E3 ended almost 2 weeks ago ( 2 QuickNews and 19 articles), but there was actually still a bit of activity on the community side of things, with contests and, finally, game night announcements (which can be found in the ‘ Community News ‘ and ‘ Play With Us ‘ tabs respectively). So, what are the highlights? Ace showed off some multiplayer for Twisted Metal , which has been in development for 18 months already. Trev got to check out FIFA 11 at EA . And Sony has released more information for PlayStation Plus , which launches tomorrow . As for other articles, Demerson has another Red Dead Redemption Chronicle to read (and details of a contest that ends in a couple days, which you can read more about in the Community News tab). Darrin has his take on Sony and Microsoft with 3D , and with that, be sure to watch Jimmy Fallon’s reaction to Killzone 3 in 3D. Now, what about the ‘ should have been there ‘ deals? You could have gotten Dead Space for $10 and $20 off at the EA store . Community News Alright, busy community week, that’s for sure. To start, there were a few contests going on, and winners to one of them were announced. The E3 week giveaway ended early last week, and the winners were: JimmyMagnum Demerson Eddie Congratulations to the other two! Currently, there is another contest being held, by one of the other members here. It’s a RDR Chronicle writing contest ! This one comes courtesy of Demerson . If you are one of the two winners, you’ll receive a $20 PSN Gift Card . Going back to E3, the ‘ Best of E3 ‘ voting has completed, and you can read the results here . Though it’s not surprising to see Sony make it out on top (given the site and everything), there were still some surprises to be had. We did have two this past week, and assuming you didn’t have connection problems like Oly and I, you probably had some fun. So which Game Nights did we do? We had a Medal of Honor Game Night , which I had missed unfortunately (well, both of them ). And a Red Dead Redemption Game Night , which I tried to connect to, but couldn’t (and once I fixed the problem, everyone was leaving ). Poll Results Though I posted results based on what was available last Saturday, the official results are up now. As for this week, the question is “ Which are you looking forward to getting your hands/eyes on more? ” with your choices between Move, #d, Both and Neither. Thank You Thanks for reading and, hopefully, I’ll get the next one in this Saturday. This week, PS+ starts up, with FW v3.40, and, hopefully, some cool news.

PlayStation Store Global Update for the Week of 06/20

Highlights There are quite a few dynamic and premium themes (and a few avatars) in the US store this week. As far as new games go, though, there are a couple Minis and Sam and Max Episode 303 released as well (which I will try to review within the week). The Blue Toad Murder Files is also bundled up this week as well. There’s a big list of Sonic sales going on this week as well, for Sonic’s 19th anniversary. As far as other DLC goes, the new ‘Outlaws to the End’ co-op DLC has been released for Red Dead Redemption, and the new Onslaught co-op mode for Battlefield Bad Company 2 released as well. And, of course, there are the regular releases as well, which include Rock Band, Guitar Hero 5, but also some DLC for Just Cause 2, LBP and MNR. PlayStation Store Global Update for the Week of 06/20

The Weekly Recap (June 13th-19th)

E3 2010 Edition This Week Definitely a busier week than usual, thanks to E3 . With a total of 46 news submissions and 6 QuickNews , the activity level is a far cry from the past few weeks, that’s for sure! Be sure to check out the Community News , as there is a lot of stuff to cover with that this week, too (some of it is just a recap of E3 , though). Anyway, as for this week’s highlights, we’ll start off with the non-E3 related stuff first. I reviewed Joe Danger earlier in the week, and if you haven’t heard of the game or are unsure of a purchase, be sure to read it! One of our new writers, MAINEiac4434 , talked about the games he’s most excited for . Darrin also describes his vision for a 3D-capable video headset. Valve is also planning on cross-platform support for Portal 2 , between the PC/Mac version and PS3. I also touched on a possible rumor that GT5 might have vehicle customization outside of the tuning capabilities. As far as E3 news goes, where to begin? Well, even though we didn’t report on it directly, the Kinect seemed to be underwhelming at the conference, with staged demos and everything. But we won’t touch anymore on that. As for PlayStation and Sony, Kevin Butler made an appearance at the conference. Not only that, but even Gabe Newell showed up , who has hated on the PS3 for years, and now decided to work on it, and even go so far as to say the PS3 version of Portal 2 will be the best console version of the game. Though a Team ICO collection has not been announced, a Sly Cooper Collection has. EA has announced that the Need for Speed Hot Pursuit franchise will be returning . And another surprise at the E3 conference? Twisted Metal is coming back ! There is a lot more news, though, so be sure to check out the Gaming News tab for all the past week’s submissions! Community News To start off the Community News , if you haven’t checked it out, you can read the archive of our E3 discussion . A few of us were online discussing the press conferences as they were happening live, so if you missed out on it and don’t feel like watching the conferences, be sure to check that page out. Oly was also at hand at the conference himself, and even though his posts were made in the previous article, you can read his coverage here separate from the discussion. While we’re on Oly , he also has a giveaway going on , which ends at 8PM pacific time tonight (GTM -8). The contest is to win a key for the Medal of Honor beta that starts tomorrow. We also have that other giveaway for PSN Gift Cards , which will have the winners chosen at 8AM mountain time (GMT -7) tomorrow. And finally, we still have voting for the Best of E3 , so be sure to get your votes in before the 23rd ! I wish it would be busy like this every week, but hey, at least there’s more than just E3, right? There are still a bunch of conferences coming up, including the Tokyo Game Show , but until then, we’d still appreciate you guys coming and reading our articles!
