R.A.W. – Realms of Ancient War, the explosive 2 player co-op Hack’n’Slash developed by Wizarbox, today immerses us in its heroic-fantasy universe through a minute of video sequences! This video presents us a bit more the rich universe of R.A.W., in which you will take control of a powerful warrior, a dark sorcerer or a stealthy rogue, before throwing yourself in a big, action-rich quest! The first few sequences of the video, more contemplative, let us appreciate the diversity and richness of the game’s levels and environments. These sequences quickly turn into pure action, while the 3 heroes of the game face swarms of creatures and huge bosses. All the power they have been granted, their powerful spells and devastating abilities will certainly not be too much for them to complete their grand quest! R.A.W. – Realms of Ancient War will release on the PSN sometime early this year. Hit the jump for more info. About R.A.W. – Realms of Ancient War R.A.W. – Realms of Ancient War is an explosive Hack’n’Slash for PlayStation® Network, Xbox LIVE® and PC developed by Wizarbox for PlayStation® Network, Xbox LIVE® Arcade and PC, taking you on a continent ravaged by a war that raged ten years earlier. The four Kingdoms of Men, Elves and Dwarves lay in ruins, preyed on by raiders and looters. In this chaos, a new, unknown threat is looming… To discover its true nature, the kingdoms sent detachments to investigate, a dangerous mission from which no one returned. But what about you? You, who were in the wrong place at the wrong time… Take control of a powerful Warrior, a dark Sorcerer or a Rogue master of stealth, and plunge into a grand quest full of action! The world of R.A.W. leads you, alone or in 2-player co-op, through many levels as rich as varied in every corner of the continent. Along your quest, the experience gained through the violent battles you will fight and the weapons and magic items you will loot on the lifeless bodies of your opponents will allow you to develop the power of your chosen character. You will learn new powers and spells ever more devastating, some of which, when mastered, will allow you to inflict tremendous damage and eradicate several dozens of enemies at once… as they will often rally in hordes to fight you! All the power you will be granted will not be too much to exterminate your outnumbering enemies. Thanks to your gift of incarnation, you will even be able to take direct control of the body of your most powerful foes, seeding discord and destruction right at the heart of enemy armies! Invite a friend to join your adventure in an exciting co-op mode, where coordination and teamwork are essential ingredients of victory!

Kojima-san along with members from KOJIMA Production and Platinum Games explain in this video the truth behind their collaboration and how Metal Gear Rising was reinvented. Platinum Games producer, Atsushi Inaba , addressed the Metal Gear fans in a series of messages via twitter : It seems there are some who wish to imply PlatinumGames was able to achieve what Kojima Productions could not – interviewers among them. This notion is spurious. Clearly, we have not yet produced any results in the world of Metal Gear. The artists at Kojima Productions gave their blood, sweat and tears to bring the Metal Gear Saga to life. The gap is immense. Mr. Kojima tossed his chips on our table, believing we could handle the task. In other words, he took a gamble. Many seem to think the change from MGSR to MGR altered everything about the game, but this is simply not true. MGSR’s concept excited us. We have love and respect for it, as we do the character of Raiden and the idea of freely cutting anything apart. I know reaction to the new trailer is mixed. Yet I also believe our love and respect shines through. It is my hope that you catch a glimpse of the future in the footage. In order to achieve that evolution, that future, we at PlatinumGames will continue to fight, shedding our own blood, sweat and tears. With that said, allow me to clarify something for the outraged fans. This is not a new direction for the Metal Gear series, nor another disappointing failed project picked up by a slightly known publisher, as you might think. It is simply Platinum Games doing what they do best; fast-based action games with a driven story and insane cut-scenes that makes your fingers bleed in sweet agony! So cut them some slacks, will ya?

No burger, portion of fries, ice cream or pizza is beyond his reach! It’s not all gravy though. Your hungry giraffe will have to avoid the heavyweight hazards inexplicably floating through the sky.
Oh how I love Rockstar Games. As you know, over the past few titles released by the company, we’ve been treated to a number of narrative gameplay videos detailing some of the features of a game or the technology behind it. You might remember these namely with titles such as Red Dead Redemption and LA Noire (I’m not completely sure, but maybe GTAIV used them as well). Keeping with this new tradition is another upcoming Rockstar title, Max Payne 3, and I gotta say, based on this video alone (there will be 5 of these types of videos in all), I am pretty speechless. In fact, you should have seen me struggling to pick my jaw up off the floor with my bad back. Every bullet is rendered in real time? 360 degree shooting, even in prone? Thousands of animations that seamlessly flow into each other? Natural Motion’s ‘Euphoria’ physics for dynamic reactions to gunshot wounds? Well, I’m pretty confident this has now made my Most Wanted list. The video above showcases gameplay design choices from targeting and shooting, movement and animation, to the series staple, Bullet Time. Hell, even the artificial intelligence has a wide breadth of capabilities. Seriously, just watch the video.

While today’s gamers sit in front of their televisions with our eyes glued to the screen and hands affixed to their controller we may forget just how video games all started. Long before PlayStation and the Xbox become house hold names in 1972 Ralph H. Baer , a.k.a “Father of Video Games” invented the first home video game console, the Magnavox Odyssey, which also pre-dates the Atari 2600. At the age of 89 Baer has witnessed the evolution of gaming first hand as video games have made the huge technical leap forward from Pong to Uncharted. And while players may be impressed with the changing face of video games over the decades, Baer isn’t too happy with what the industry has become. I think it’s a disgrace,” Baer stated in a recent interview. “What I created got abominated. You can see the same thing in music, literature, art — any form of art,” he added. Despite his dissatisfaction with the entertainment medium he helped create nearly 50 years ago, Ralph H. Baer is still proud of his contribution to the video game industry. In the late 80s Baer created the first motion controller for the Nintendo NES system ( which Nintendo rejected at the time ) that involved a camera mounted on a television which tracked a player’s movements. Sounds a lot like the Eye Toy doesn’t it? Via
